ok this is what we know so far ... Docherty and Thomas want to be a blue ... both a strong chance to play at carlton next year .

we have also put a four year generous offer to adams ... getting him to carlton could be hard since Collingwood want him and gws want shaw ..

betts is gone ...

some interest in Tarrant .

.. club is going to make a play for boyd if that fails through patton .

from what ive been told up to 6 or so players could be at carlton and a few more are gonna get the chop and traded

The Tarrant rumours have substance. Spoke to a Norf supporter this morning who said Tarrant is a required player however, Carlton are trying very hard to change that. FWIW he did not get his information from bigfooty or the like.

Buddy isn't at the Swans yet. Eddie McGuire's head hasn't exploded. Until it does, I'll have to presume it's just another rumor.

I was told by a "personal trainer" that Buddy is keen to be at the Swans next year, and that it will happen.
I couldnt see how because of the commitment to million dollar man Tippett....and said it was a rumour.
I received the text today stating..." see I told you"

So it's the tigers and giants bidding for hammers services. What do we want that will get the deal done? For me, Adams straight swap for hammer, although now that buddy is off to swans, Adams may stay.

Buddy not going to GWS might just make more players want out there ... GWS are going to have trouble keeping players there ... nobody elects to go there.

No chance of getting either Boyd or Patton now, thanks buddy...
Have we offered staker and cross any deals as yet???
Tarrant or gumbleton??? What are people's thoughts if we had to pick one???
Hampson may get us a second rounder, pass that on for docherty...
Adams going to be a tough one to get, unless we give up our first round pick..
What are peoples thoughts on Kieran Harper from north???

This is the issue...if we lose Hampson and Betts, we should retain the picks and NOT go after Thomas.

Once again we will be blowing the opportunity to have more earlyish picks. Instead, the club will put all its eggs in the Thomas basket. Of course he is a good player when fit but look at our list, our lack of quality young players coming through and it is clear we should be focussing on the draft.

The club needs to invest in the draft and development, not the old cheque book method. Have a plan for once!

I would like to see Carlton at least consider Andrejs Everitt... a fringe player from a successful club is a lot more worthwhile than recruiting an average player from a poor club. Sydney have done this well over the years- eg Marty Mattner - fringe player at Adelaide etc...maybe Everitt is worth consideration as he is uncontracted and could play half forward for insurance. It will be interesting to see where Everitt finishes up.

Re the above few posts:

a) No to Everitt - he has struggled now at two clubs.
b) Gumbleton > Tarrant. They might both be pretty cheap but Gumby has shown he can play, when fit. With Tarrant I haven't seen anything that tells me he can play.
c) I don't think the draft picks for Hammer and Betts would mean ditching the idea of Thomas. Neither of these draft picks would be 1st round and therefore unlikely to deliver someone of Thomas' (known) quality. Plus, we would still have 1 1st round pick + 2x2nd round picks to get some young talent. The key with a Thomas deal is making sure his salary does not force another req'd player out now or in the next few yrs..
d) It seems to me that we can't get both Thomas and Adams. If Collingwood lose Thomas, that will free them up to offer big $ for Adams and rob us of the opportunity to do the same. If they keep Thomas, they won't have $$ for Adams but we will. However, it also seems like Thomas prefers us and Adams prefers the Pies so I suspect that is the way it will fall. At the moment Thomas is worth more b/c we know he is good. Whereas we THINK Adams will be good. Based on this, I'd lean toward Thomas but happy if we get Adams instead.
e) We might be able to get overs for Hammer at GWS esp if Mummy goes to the Hawks b/c they need a ruckman more than we need Adams and they have surplus picks to trade. Not sure Richmond has anything to give us. But I'd still prefer to trade Hammer + 2nd round pick to Swannies for Reid and their 3rd round pick.
f) Having said all that, I think Warnock would prove more valuable on the market and I'd throw him up instead of Hammer if it will get Adams or Reid over the line... While Warnock is the best tap ruckman, Kruezer & Hammer can handle our ruck needs.

Yep, that's some sound strategy you've got there.

Lets only get All-Australians, but they'd better be under 25 and be ripping blokes. And no way are we paying more than a second rounder.
