Yep. No point scraping into the 8 again if we're not up to it.

What I'd like to see over the next several seasons, now that there are 2 teams in every other footy state, is Carlton spread the travel to those states evenly over the cycle, ie: 2 trips to Sydney one year, and one to the others that year; 2 to Qld the next year; 2 to Adelaide the year after; 2 to Perth after that (or whatever order).

That way the Club can evenly "spread the word" and market itself properly (OK, you can stop laughing now....) across the country.

Damn straight. To have aspirations of winning a flag we need to beat everyone in the top 8, the more experience we get playing those sorts of games, the better. Playing a bunch of mid/low ranked teams consistently welcomes bad habits and laziness. Playing the top teams more regularly should smack that right out of them.

Essendon* still around....

I hope every team plays each other for the 1st 17 rounds and then the last few rounds are the 2nd round games.
Better indication of where you are at.

Melbourne and GWS too please.

I wonder if this means the R1 Richmond fixture is under threat?

It's locked in. Richmond's home game though (which only puts a halt on 150th celebrations. Gate takings are split 50/50).

it's round 2 though due to the MCG being unavailable. Not sure if it's our first game of the season due to a split round or whatever it is the AFL comes up with on the earlier start to the season.

I think the first round will be on weekend 14th March this year. I get the feeling that most of these games will be interstate or there may be a couple at Etihad because the MCG wont be ready.

Awesome, same weekend as the grand prix again! Hopefully we play that week and not the next one due to a stupis split round.

No Richmond rivalry for Rd 1
http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2013-1 ... y-for-rd-1

Quote:
Carlton’s rivalry with Richmond won’t be headlining Round 1 in 2014 – with the MCG unavailable for the traditional season opener.

Season 2014 is set to kick off on March 14, with the opening round spread over a fortnight.

The two-week opening round is the stupidest idea ever!
