Good man Neil...and truer words never spoken.

Very close to becoming Carlton Coach back in 1978 when we considered all sorts of alternatives after Ian Stewart "resigned" due to "health reasons".

I'm more than certain that we offered the job to Neil Roberts but he turned it down, then finally we appointed Jezza to the job.

Yeah, they covered that too. He said Harris approached him to coach us.

I didn't watch the interview but I remember the events of Jezza's appointment like it was yesterday.

I remember the excitement when Jezza was appointed coach, the sheer elation when he held up the premiership cup as Captain-Coach in 79 and the absolute devastation when he left to play for St.Kilda not long after.

I know plenty of people who worked with him at the nab. They were mid to upper management, dealing with him on a day to day basis.

We hear that Fahour may not be all he's cracked up to be.

Meanwhile, we persist with a guy who has proven beyond all doubt over the course of many years to be singularly, and deeply, unimpressive.

Do we hold onto Sticks until the Perfect candidate comes along? Seems like it, because we have factions at the club... neither of which wants the other to run the place. And neither of which is really suitable anyway.

So we end up with Sticks by default.

Pathetic way to run an organisation.

The board has a groupie board... they idol worship...

If the board doesnt like Fahour.. id take the bet hes ok.

id be worried if the board did like Fahour...

You know why???

Its a dumb and shit board....1!!!

So what you do is.. you watch what theyre going to do and think the opposite way....

It's pretty common knowledge that if he has a weakness, it's that he's not very tolerant of dissenting views and places great trust in his own views and instincts. But he was largely responsible for the improvement in branding, increased customer focus and most importantly the integration of the MLC business. He's also quick to deliver on strategy.

It's been that way for a long time. This is nothing new. Kernahan must go.

I'm yet to be convinced of Fahour's motives to even be on the Board...

How did it get to this? Some of Australia's great executives should be lining up to have a crack at chairing such a (once) prestigious club -- The Club of Menzies, B.A Santamaria, Manning Clark... Vince Colosimo.

What does that mean?

Why would his motives be any different to anyone else wanting to be on the board??

If nobody better puts their hand up, Ahmed is the best alternative I can see at the moment.
We can focus on his negatives, but it appears the guys has a lot of pluses that get overlooked.

I like the fact that he's there. Geelong's President Colin Carter describes Fahour as "extraordinarily bright and very commercial ... someone at the prodigious end of the spectrum". That's a good start. But what about Carlton? Well - as a consultant he tried to stop his club from kicking an own goal when he advised it not to build the ill-fated Legends Stand at Optus Oval. John Elliott ignored him.

But it's more than Kernahan. I'm not convinced Swann is the right CEO. We need sweeping and positive change. Fahour would get a good CEO in. And they'd drag this club of mine into the 21st century. Time is running out.

There are motives driven by self interest, and then there are motives driven by wanting to serve the club.

My mail suggest Fahour falls into the former camp...

Doc you were so positive about CFC at the start of this season, what happened to change your view???

I think we need a MASSIVE change, but some critics on here just do that, criticise. I don't lose sleep about it anymore, football is slowly becoming a minor obsession to me compared to even just a few years ago. I'm not sure if it's me that's changed or the game and how it's run. I have absolutely no reason to be a member next season - other than habit.
