after mick missed out on cloke last year, he will be gunning for daisy......
our needs in no order,
1. tall forward
2. tall defender
3. mids x 3/4
my views,
1. mitch thorp, scott gumbleton, jessie white, john patton[will not come cheap]
2. josh bruce, tayte pears, luke delaney, james frawley[see above]
3. dale thomas, kieran harper, taylor adams, luke shuey, sam docherty, patrick karnezis
plenty of options there for us, just hope mick and co make the right calls.
for me i would take,
mitch thorp, comes cheap and can play..
tayte pears, would come fairly cheap, and also can play he's role well..
thomas, harper, adams and shuey, 4 mids who will add class and grunt into our midfield...
2014 could look like,
simpson jamison watson
walker pears harper
tuohy gibbs thomas
adams henderson waite
menzel thorp garlett
kreuzer judd murphy
shuey graham carrazo bell

reckon betts is gone..
yarran for shuey..
harper and pears probably cost us a 3/4 rounder, laidler pick we could use..
not sure re adams, maybe a second rounder and warnock and curnow/armfield..
thorp would cost us a late pick..
maybe trade out hampson, get a pick somewhere around the 30/35 mark..
rookie darren jolly, 150k per year, free and cheap.
pick up a project ruck men,
just some thoughts..

hes a yapper.. both at opposition and his team mates.

mick wants him

You read it here from Synners first people. Whatever we pay for Thomas is the price we pay to get some extroversion on the list and a bloke who can teach the rest of the list Mick's way.

If you've got a problem with the price then have a look at the blokes who built the list through either drafts or trades. They've assembled the greatest list of introverts and nice boys we've ever sent out onto the field.

If Thomas is fit betts for Thomas is a win or Thomas for a pick in the 20s is fair value

Some people have very short memories.
A fit Dale thomas is in the top 10 players in the comp.
Remember this is a bloke that runs Hard both ways and all game. Gets his fair share of the ball and uses it well and also kicks goals.
I'm excited and cant wait for him to slot into our midfield.
Massive win for the club.

We didn't get Cloke because of Mick..... 100% fact

Cloke and his manager Ralph Car had given Sticks and Swan their word he'd be coming over to us but once it was known Mick was going to coach us, he went back I back on his word.

As I said that's 100% fact

Reckon with Jolley, Didak, Krak and now Shaw most likely gone, the Filth would have plenty of room in the cap to accommodate Daisy.

If he wants to come there's no real way to stop him.
If he wants to stay there's no real way to stop him.

If he's fit he's worth every cent of what he gets.
We should have picked him at #1 instead of Murphy all those years ago.

..nah, i reckon Murphy is better, as is Pendles.. ..hell, i'd even have mister Kennedy before Daisy if i were redoing that draft's top 5..

maybe.... they can force daisy to stay.... maybe
keep someone who doesnt wanna stay
but their salary cap would be pretty full too

I hope your wrong.

If the ankle was no concern then Collingwood would not hesitate in matching our offer, plus Thomas would probably accept slightly less pay and stay. He would have no reason to leave ... he wouldn't expect dollar for dollar.

For this reason I feel that the ankle is a concern and we stand to lose more than we gain.

And for those that cannot see the enormity of this risk, then I don't want to hear you whingeing about salary cap issues. The pies might just be setting themselves up for a massive gain in 12 months time and we may just be helping to facilitate this.

We have been burnt too many times on trades.

if there is something wrong with daisy and his ankle is shot.. we have more problems than just him

our new fitness and conditioning person said we have nothing to worry about
he should know...

if he is in lala land... we are stuffed beyond thomas

What is the difference in payments between daisy and the betts offer? Say 100 k more for daisy? I can live with that. Betts is too one dimensional to be getting that sort if coin. He is too small, light, not fit enough to be part if an elite midfield. We still need another A grade midfielder to be added imo to round out a super competitive midfield group....

Murphy (fit)
Gibbs
Judd (fit)
Walker
Thomas
Carazzo (fit)
McLean
Player X

This gives us a lot more run through the midfield than we had this year.
