It's a pity we are losing an FA as it no longer comes down to 'Thomas for nothing', due to losing the compo pick but I still would do it.

No reason it cant be a combo of both (picks and Thomas), depending on our other deals.

For example I'd take 4 picks in the top 50 + Thomas over 5 picks in the top 50.

Strength of the draft is important. 'Pick 18-30' as SAS87 points out we'd receive, varies from year to year.

With Betts being a restricted FA - and having at least two clubs keen - I'd love to see us somehow hatch together something that forces Adel or Nth to trade, but realise this is unlikely.

As with all deals I will wait until October 24 to assess a 'net result' before making any sort of judgement on how I believe we've done....

Imagination can often lead us astray. Don't judge someones reasoning based on your own experience or knowledge.

I don't see it as petulance. It's frustration & anger. Football is about emotion, that's what it runs on.

I have met many people from this website who are nothing like what they seem.

This club can be fixed. A lot of us would just like to something positive.

I was involved at a club that made the tough decisions and went through a massive restructure virtually overnight. Everything from that point was a positive. It was one of the great learning experiences of my life.

We need someone at the top that will make those decisions. I hope MM is doing that.

I'm sorry that what one is left with is frustration and anger as I find them also to be useless emotions.

If frustration and anger get you anywhere let's all be more frustrated and much angrier. Doesn't work does it? :)

Only action can give you anything that may just net a useful outcome but that's much harder and a lot less appealing to most...................so back to frustration and anger.

p.s. Not having a shot at anyone but just for the useless rolling maul that frustration and anger breed.

It brought down the Berlin wall
It made a statement in Tiannemen Square
It cleared Versailles of its King

Bottom line is, sometimes, you just have to get angry and frustrated
We've been a basket case off the field for over a decade. We still are. We're run by benefactors, are devoid of innovation, have no strategic plan and poach yesterdays heroes from yesterdays successes
Off with all their heads I say, we've seen enough of Sticks', Hughes' and Swann's incompetence

Butts knows his situation with his ankle better than anyone and has given him a green light.

Daisy is an extrovert...

I want daisy this side needs more talent- no more evident than that - daisy is talent we don't have to trade for him - yes he is pricey - but isn't it good that a talented footballer wants to come to us - we need both young talent and more top end talent - daisy gives us that - finals experience and also the gut running
Apart from if he is injured don't get the knock on him - if fit will be in terms of talent in our top 5

Judd looked limp before coming to us. Was playing with a groin injury that really hobbled him in his last year at the Weagles

Ankle should be fixable.

Midfield headlined by Murphy, Gibbs, Daisy looks good to me.
I'd even add Walker into the midfield mix.
Run Judd off half back, rotating in the middle in conjunction with Simpson and Touhy (& Walker).
If Yarran stays, he must be developed into the mid we hoped for when drafting him. At worst, he runs the wings.

Oh didn't Daisy also get best on ground in that game where Gary Ablett got 50 possessions.

Even Roos on the coach said Daisy had more of an impact even though it was hard to go pass that many possessions.

Has ability. Lets hope it shines even more at Carlton.

I hope your wrong.

If the ankle was no concern then Collingwood would not hesitate in matching our offer, plus Thomas would probably accept slightly less pay and stay. He would have no reason to leave ... he wouldn't expect dollar for dollar.

For this reason I feel that the ankle is a concern and we stand to lose more than we gain.

And for those that cannot see the enormity of this risk, then I don't want to hear you whingeing about salary cap issues. The pies might just be setting themselves up for a massive gain in 12 months time and we may just be helping to facilitate this.

We have been burnt too many times on trades.
