Where are the Mathematicians when ya need them? :?

Total Squad: 44 (Including Rookies)
Trade Week: In: Saddington – Out: Nil
National Draft Picks: 1-4-20-36-68-84
Preseason Draft Picks: 1 +
Rookie Draft Picks: 1-17-33 +
De-listed: Bowyer, Clarke, Pleming
= 8 more De-listings to come!

This may vary dependent on Campo and Lappin and which clubs participate in the PSD. I think we will use all the National Draft Picks on kids and hopefully get more than one player in the PSD, so therefore we have to get rid of about 8. Who do you think they will be in order? 8)

Sporn's contracted. If they couldn't trade him will stay.

I think Prender is too & have heard Bannister also.

Morell might be on shaky ground now that Lance & Fev are staying.

We have been known to delist contracted players before

Not suprised.

Was the only rookie not to really do anything over the past two years.

Given today and the clear conclusion that we're going to be bottom in 2006 without spectacular development of young players, 2006 has to be a full development year for those on the cusp. By this I mean:

* Setanta has to play every game in the forward line (this would mean that Morrell would be backup only, given talls of Fish, Waite, Whitnall, Fev and Setanta alread 1 too many);
* Russell has to play every game;
* #1 and #4 are likely to play a number of games;
* Simmo, Bentick, Bryan to play as many as possible, hopefully all games.
* Hartlett, Rookies etc. to get a look in.

Really, this means that retention of Morrell (above reason), Johnson (Bentick), Davies (young midfielders, Russell), Longmuir (above reason), Chambers (Russell's spot) cannot justifiably hold their spot. Bannister / Wiggins / Sporn are in the same boat, as partially defensive midfielders, with Sporn better at stopping, and only 1 maybe 2 max being kepy. Prenders role as backup ruckman must be taken by Bryan and DeLuca, each potentially taking a mark, and Saddington ending this whole notion of Prenders ever being a defender.

Theres no point pretending any more than we're improving with these aspects of the list. I'd much rather see us go Hawthorns way and play full blood rather than coast and try to scrounge say even 5-6 wins. Thus I want the above 7 cut as well.

Now the next step.

With trade 2 hours over what happens next??

Can anyone list how many and order of our delistings / retirements

1 - Bowyer (retired)
2 - Clarke delisted

BTW - amazing how one trade holds everything else up. Whole Hay deal soaked everyones time up. With 4 clubs not really that interested in trades, 5 clubs involved in one trade and the other 7 clubs wanting to deal with the 5 clubs involved in the big trade, net results nothing.

PS Has Saddington been recruited to fill a defensive role, thought he is not overly tall??

Norman should be next along with Pleming.

6 players are to be released I think (?)

Bowyer, Clarke, Campo (?) and three others.

Probably Brett Johnson will be one of them... unsure on delisting Bannister.

I will keep him for one more year... at any rate if the number is six delists and assuming we know the four.. the other two could be upto 15 players.

Could be 6, more likely to be 7 and possibly even eight.

If Jessie D gets promoted with Carlos, that's 2 rookie promotions. We have 4 picks in the top 36, and one PSD pick. That makes 7, plus maybe a late speculative pick in the draft.

Not sure on Jessie D's chances, but I'm sure I read a couple of posts suggesting it was likely to happen.

I dont want Normo to be delisted. If everything clicks he has the talent to be a star backmen, give hime one more year.

My 5 delistings would be (on top of Boywer and Clarke)
Bannister
Longmuir
Diggers :( (saddington is his replacement)
Campo :twisted:
Johnson

Lucky one would be Wiggo.

We can still delsit a player if he is contracted.
He would be on huge pucks and it would cost a fortune to pay him out. Contracts shouldnt hold us back in one of the most important parts of the clubs future.
