I think 9.22 and 4 out on the full was what really cost us the Essendon* game, McInnes has been out of form for sure and would like those 10 seconds back but I'm happy to back him to come good.

Relying on a lot of hearsay and gut feeling, and without knowing or having the time to worry about who we get as replacements or how, here's an attempted GONE wish list by guernsey:
Walker - keep
Menzel - keep
Murphy - keep
Gibbs - keep
Judd - one more year
Simpson - keep
Buckley - keep - is he really being turfed already?
Kreuzer - keep
Lucas - one more year tops if we can't trade him
Watson - keep
Warnock - keep
Robinson - one more year if we can't trade him
Yarran - one more year if we can't trade him
McLean - one more year
Laidler - gone unfortunately - is he really incapable of returning to his best or does Malthouse just not like him?
Collins - gone - not as bad as some think, but injured too much to be worth another year
Rowe - one more year - extenuating circumstances
Temay - keep - early days
Betts - keep, although it seems we won't
O'Keeffe - one more year if he can get on the park
Bootsma - keep
Hampson - gone
Henderson - keep
McCarthy - gone
Mitchell - gone
McInnes - keep
Armfield - one more year
Bell - keep
Scotland - gone
Waite - keep
Davies - gone
Graham - keep
Duigan - gone - I don't see any more salad days, much as I'd love to
Curnow - keep, despite his flaws
Cachia - one more year, if only to be a stopgap when Curnow and Carrazzo both go down
Garlett - keep
Dale - gone
Jamison - keep
Casboult - keep
Tuohy - keep
White - gone
Carrazzo - one more year unless it's obvious he's cooked
Joseph - gone
Ellard - gone - shame...great for VFL level but just not physically up to AFL standard

Just my stab at it. Too much? Not enough? Curious to know others' hypothetical gone/keep lists...

still cannot fathom how laidler couldn't get a game this year AND we keep playing McInness - cost us the Essendon** game and showed up badly against swans

9.22 cost us the Essendon* game

Laidler was injured at the end of the season. Fair effort from Andy Mac to come back after the ACL and he'll be better next year. He had his moments, and was probably shot by the end of the year but Laidler was not an option due to form throughout the year (mind you up fwd) and injury down the back stretch. Laidler seems a shadow of himself following the knee injury from early 2012.

Hopefully we can shuffle him off for a decent pick/swap or see a recovery in the knee and form for next year.

McInnes would have been played in planning as regular future moving forward.

This is what the CEO stated in June prior to other clubs interest in Betts. We could add Thomas plus possibly another which I would interpret as about $1 million a year in salary cap room;

Would take anything that comes out of our CEO's mouth with a grain of salt.

Still, it's hard to fathom we have little wriggle room in the cap, if it's true.

im not getting this...didnt judd get a haircut???

it cant be rowe and watson...

something weird is going on with our money budgeting.

The same people are still making these calls ... so we shouldn't be surprised if we are STILL overpaying for an average list.

I find that hard to believe. I am sure there is still some significant room in our cap especially with the players leaving and the reduction in pay for Judd.

youre wrong

Okay. So how tight are we and what do we have left?

Are any people associated with awarding Waite his current contract still at the club?

Don't worry about Waite.

What was the rush to sign up Rowe for 2 years?

Mick said in his presser that we were not in a good position, I assumed financially and contractually to change our list last year... but how were we chasing Cloke?

Swann says we have plenty cap reserve. Does anyone know wtf is going on at this club?

Do you have any idea of our Salary Cap status Doc?

Synners suggests we are stuffed. I'm told different. :?

What do you think Kenny? For the record I think we are better off (as long as Daisy is physically right).

Mitchell, McCarthy, Davies, Buckley, Joseph, Ellard would be my certainties at this point to get the chop.

Then you've got for a variety of reasons Duigan, Lucas, Warnock, Robinson, Yarran, Laidler, Betts, Hampson and Scotland.

Unlikely maximum of 15 senior list changes. I reckon it'll be 9 (Betts to free agency, one of the rucks, Laidler).

Bell and Curnow have to be promoted, 7 spots remaining. Probably Thomas makes 6. Staker five.

I don't know BUT I'm asking the question because it has a serious effect on what we need to to.

How do you know? You're so confident that you say I'm wrong yet you have no idea what I know or who told me?

What the hell has winning got to do with it?

I just want to know the truth.

The whole Thomas situation is a farce. Mick talks about boosting the midfield yet Thomas averages substantially less possessions than Murphy, Judd or Gibbs.
He also averages significantly less for tackles.

If we want a hardened ball winner who tackles and uses the ball well, he's hardly what we want.
Let alone making him our highest paid player on an extended contract.

If Mick wants someone to kick the ball with, theres cheaper and better options. Lets target a decent inside player who can apply better defensive pressure than what we already have. Not less.
