I know, but not exactly my point. If we need talls as well, and we do, then you would think we would recruit one or two if we rated them better than the on-baller.

I can understand McCarthy and Mitchell as they have been given 3 years but a bit surprised about Buckley.

You're surprised that Mick doesn't like Buckley?

Probably has memories of his old man giving him one of the all time classic coathangers late in 1982. It was a classic and got a mention at the B & F that year .

I predict the club will announce the following delistings in the next 48 hours-

Davies
Joseph
Mitchell
Collins*
O'Keeffe*

I reckon there will be further announcements once we've sussed out if there's any trade interest in-

Duigan
Ellard
Laidler
McCarthy

If there's no trade interest for these 4 guys, delist them. We might be able to snag a very late pick (#70 odd) or at least help one of these guys get to the club of their choice, a la the JR trade last year. I could see Duigan attracting some interest from GWS, or possibly Richmond might trade for him under the 'Brent Heaver/Sean Charles' rule...

McCarthy is a player I could see us re-rooking, depending what else is available at our picks in the rookie draft, so I hope we don't trade him for a pick we'll never use (eg. #90) particularly if it's the Crows interested.....this isn't just to keep our options open in the rookie draft, but because the Jacobs/Betts situations are still fresh in my mind...

Casboult, Hampson, Lucas & White are very tradeable but I wouldn't be giving them away too lightly and I wouldn't be delisting them personally. Buckley has a way to go, but I would be disappointed if we cut him now. And I'm comfortable with Rowe getting another year.

Yep. I'm am far from convinced re: Watson either.

At this point we persist as he hasn't let anyone down yet at all at senior level and we actually might have missed him once he got injured. Meant Henderson had to go back in the end. Watson just opens up so much flexibility with the rest of the side so I hope he makes it.

Love to get Jesse White. Hope he's available like last year but he had a good season this time so I'm not sure. That would allow us to let someone like Waite to play on the wing.

Hampson's a free agent at the end of next year. Given all he gets to play is generally FF when ever he get a run in the seniors he could well move to somewhere, once his contract expires, where he can finish his career as a first ruck. Often he wasn't even first ruck in the NBs. Must frustrate him. Best to trade him while we can get something for him.

Casboult is worth another year, done some good things in the last 2 years but the problem is the difference between best and worst is poles and poles apart. First Essendon* game and Richmond we wonderful efforts, as was the first half of the Hawthown game where he caused alot of trouble until Lake was moved on him to quell him. On the other hand other games were dead set shockers. Needs to get his worst and best alot closer together. May never be our spearhead but could make a decent back up one day IF his consistency improves.

Middle Park?

1. Free Agent = 1 possible in Thomas
2. 3. Trade = there must be one or two out there
4. Poach +what about a player like Kennedy not getting a go elsewhere
5.Draft Pick 1 = if we dont give away our first pick to get Boyd get a mid, I think that pick might be part of a 2 or 3 club trade to land Boyd because GWS dont need the pick
6.Draft Pick 2 = might be a good mid ready to step up...ie matured early
7. there must be a mature mid somewhere in Oz
8. Get Tuohy developed to play mid
9. 10. get the engine of the Amigos developed to enable them to play mid

We have options.
They dont grow on trees
They are out there.
I'm sure we have targets other than Thomas

Dont leave any stone uncovered.

Advertise in all the papers for people to put up names they believe would make an AFL mid and be diligent enough to explore most of the options put foprward.

The recruiters have stuffed up big time.
Now we have to be unconventional and ignore them.

Trade Lucas and Bootsma for Shuey.

Trade Yarran for S.Selwood.

Daisy Thomas & Mav Weller via free agency.

Trade pick 45 for Mitch Hallahan

Rookie draft Shane Nelson & Kane Lambert

Late pick select Dayle Garlett.

Trade second round and Laidler & Hampson for Adams.

Trade J.Garlett for second rounder.

Pick 30 for Betts via FA.

Offer up Warnock, Bell, Duigan, Robinson, White, Casboult to anyone for a second or early third round pick or maybe some swap of picks. May get 1 or 2??

We may then have have a 1st round pick (Josh Kelly) and 3-4 second round (Christian Salem) and 1-2 third rounders in the ND to add to Thomas, Adams, Shuey, Selwood, Hallahan, Garlett, Nelson, Weller & Lambert.

Get Graham, Menzel, Murphy & Carrazzo fit and add Gibbs, McLean & Judd.

Easy!

:yikes:

It is possible to right the wrongs.

We have an opportunity to fix things with at least 10 changes to the list.

There's so many options.

Good onya Psych looking at opportinity.

And good luck this year to our recruiters too...they need a bit of luck...its their turn for a bit of luck

# believe.

Trade pick 45 for Mitch Hallahan 50/50 on if this is worth it

Rookie draft Shane Nelson & Kane Lambert ok

Late pick select Dayle Garlett. no chance will be long gone

Trade second round and Laidler & Hampson for Adams. the old shit + shit = good trick - 3 for 1s dont happen very often

Trade J.Garlett for second rounder. no keep

Pick 30 for Betts via FA. we wont get anything - if we take 2 free agents as above

Offer up Warnock, Bell, Duigan, Robinson, White, Casboult to anyone for a second or early third round pick or maybe some swap of picks. May get 1 or 2?? yes, not much worth anything there though - would like to keep warnock

Agreed but you'd turn a blind eye if we traded our second round draft pick for him if he were 180cm and played in the centre.

I can easily think of 7 or 8 players I would delist ahead of Buckley & Lucas.

Gee guys, it was a bit tongue in cheek and maybe a bit of hope?

Reality though.

If we could get one of Selwood or Shuey plus Thomas, Hallahan & Adams in the trade, FA period I would be very very happy.

Even Shuey & Thomas alone would be a great get. Then some good draft picks.

As an aside no one should ever being "don't trade or keep" with any player. If there is a real opportunity to improve our list it must be considered.

Yes, but not simply by switching the gear that's says "HBF" to read "midfielder". There is far more to it than that and it's going to take time.
