McInness spent a bit of time up forward yeah? We love the swinging 3rd tall.

I thought he was alright once he spent some time on Edwards, who was killing Touhy early.

He might not have been our best player, but he's virtually our only tall third defender. Davies, Bootsma and Laidler are the players who will take his spot.

He'll play this week.

......and can we get the bottom 5cm of the jumper (on the back) cut off or super glued to the player.

I think we had 5 guys ALMOST get away and JUST get held up by the smallest slip of fabric.

McInnes is the only one I'd like changed, but who would play his role?

With Sam Reid and LRT injured the Swans only have 1 decent tall forward in Tippett (Jesse White a plodder) - and maybe 2 if Goodes plays however he will only be half fit.
I'd like to think that a backline consisting Jamo, Hendo and Walker would have enough height to cover them.
Unfortunately McInnes is a liability at the moment.

..not so true.. ..White is a plodder, but he's a plodder in a purple patch, and even they can hit some brief good form.. ..and their rucks do mark as well, especially Pyke who is a strong contested mark, and an accurate kick for goal..

..Hawks have a shorter backline than us and controlled the air, review their match repeatedly, must not give many easy entries into swans F50..

Thats it. Just get a bit of team defense going. Absorb for the first half then run all over them after that and have them regretting playing so many talls. That is what is working for us.
If we bring it talls to match them we wont have the run we normally have and will have to match it with the swans for contest after contest for the full game and not many teams can do that.
Play it on our terms.

Tickets done!

Wife looking for hotel room at the Olympic Park for the night.

Kids have the war paint ready.

I'm primed.

The Bluebaggers hit form at the right end of the year.

Bring it on!

It should be good.

I went 2 years ago when we played W.C. and it was quite an enjoyable night, expect for some fools that couldn't take the loss and took their frustrations out on rubbish bins.

The club haven't announced it yet as they're just getting the finer details together. It will probably be up on the club site tomorrow.

So happy with last weeks team. No Casboult was the key. Great balance across the ground.

I'd possibly bring in Ellard for either McInnes or Menzel. Probably lean toward McInnes going out at this stage. Need another good tackler.

Haven't heard about any official club function, but in 2009, thousands turned up to the Novotel Hotel bar out near the ground and essentially took it over as an unofficial Carlton drinking hole. I dare say this will happen again.

I reckon we're close to being a very good team.

Watching the elimination final again ... geez Curnow and Bell cost us with their disposal. Curnow in particular has had a good year, but if you're going to be a serious contender you just can't have blokes turning it over like that. I think we have to stick with Curnow for now, (the rest of his game has been good), and hope he tidies up in the off season.

Bell out, McLean in seems a no-brainer to me if the latter's fit.

The other concern for me is redundancy in the ruck. I can't see Warnock and Krueze in the same team being the best line up for us. Again, if we're going to reach the top we cannot be carrying anyone and two blokes who are "ruckmen only" is a luxury we can't afford. Pyke could be a real headache around the ground Sat night.

Sydney, Fremantle and Hawthorn all have three ruckmen in their preferred line up.

Think Warnock stays for rest of year.

Are you counting someone like Roughead and then comparing him with Warnock and/or Krueze for impact around the ground?

The same Roughead that's been playing bits and pieces of gametime as a Kouta-like midfielder as well? Yep, that one.

Warnock and impact around the ground isn't the greatest of arguments either.

Curnow, Bell and Robbo provide plenty of grunt but their disposal (and awareness in the case of Bell) really hurts us. In my opinion this is the main thing preventing us from being a bonafide top 4 side. I wonder if there is another Barlow type player going along unnoticed in the VFL at the moment?

McLean is a definite if he's OK.
Unfortunately for McInnes, he's the man to make way. No changes other than that unless theres an injury.

Walker on Goodes.
He was sensational yesterday, both on the ground and in his fair share of aerial contests. Loses a bit in the strength but could run off at will and really hurt the swans, kicking over the top to the next contest.
If Goodes plays, we have to exploit his time out of the game.

A bit off topic but there is about a week's worth of daylight between our foot skills and the Hawks. There must be some serious biomechanical tweaking going on there that we need to also adopt.

We can beat the Swans.
