but he won flags and made grand finals...

how do u explain that????

if u are saying his teams kicked points ...u also must achnowledge they were highly succesful...especially compared to our achivements in the last 10 years

I'd explain it by saying that MM has been a pretty good coach and Collingwood recognised he was near his use by date and moved him on. I'd explain the premierships by saying he is a pretty good coach, who had one of the most dominant lists assembled at WCE and 2 flags with that list is an under the odds return, also WCE finals record aside from the flags is pretty diabolical. I'd explain it by saying Tony Joyce and Tony Jewell coached flag sides, as did Chris Scott. MM has one flag in 20 years and but for a shocking bounce for Milne and a fumble by Kossie he would have managed to lose the unloseable GF in 2010 to an inferior side with a superior coach.

He has been a good coach as was Pagan, BArrassi PArkin etc. Whether he is current;y the best coach in the AFL or even in the top 6 is questionable and whether he will be up with the pack in 5 years which is the minimum it will take to rebuild is highly questionable. Given the decisions the club has made over the last ten years why is anyone confident this is a good decision, what decisions in the past lead us to that conclusion. He might be the best coach in the AFL, or he might be a bitter old man who was a very good coach when given elite talent and resources but who is past his use by date and is coaching to spite his previous club above all else. By 2015 all will be revealed. I have a feeling a lot of posters here thought Pagan was a genius when he was appointed and his job was a 1000 times harder than Micks.

And I am not sure that moving Hendo to CHF or playing Bootsma are the hallmarks of a great coach, pretty obvious I would think. The fact is we kicked badly and lost another unloseable game to a side who did the exact same thing to us earlier in the season. WCE flogged the Bombers two weeks ago as did North and yet we blew a 4 goal lead in a low scoring game and threw away another game. Sure, not all Mick's fault, but does his huge pay cheque come with any responsibility attached? NAsty ex Richmond and C'wood bloke, you have to do something pretty special to get out from under that baggage, and we haven't seen anything special yet.

It's funny how one man (who was freely employed by us) causes more vitriol in one year than the club does in over a decade of neglect and abuse. It's the mob mentality at work. :-?

..best two seasons with pies were AFTER pies made the decision to 'move him on'.. ..his last 2 yrs coaching were very successful, and just 1 season out of the game.. ..use by date arguement doesnt stick.. ..have other points sure, argue and debate away.. ..use by date doesnt stack up in my opinion..

The way he's improved casboults kicking style this season has been remarkable
Most of our players confidence has improved significantly under him

As TBB said in the other thread, and as BV said in the pre match, once again he got sucked in and started with the extra tall.

Once again when Yarran was thrown behind the ball and they took risks instead of bombing long they looked a potent dangerous team.

Stop this archaic miserable bombing of the ball when we don't have the cattle for that style.

Surely the club is not paying him squillions just to make these sort of sub decisions at HT....why does it have to wait until then. Stubborn fool doesn't seem to learn.

Have had my doubts. But now he has an opportunity to work some magic.

Rightly or wrongly, we play a final at the G next week. What can he and we do??

Happy to pause this discussion and band together as one to show some pride next week. If we go down we go down fighting

Hard to believe we appointed him on a multi million dollar contract to limp over the line due to a peptide infraction.

Has performed well below expectations this year. Massive improvement required next year, or we've blown it completely.

Watching it here at home; my Wife couldn't hack the drama (a pessimist) and went upstairs.

She kept screaming....(ïs it finished?) thru the last qtr. until she couldn't help herself and came downstairs; only to find us heroically winning the last stanza........how sweet it is.......OMG....

Duigan; when he came on.....Gibbs....Murph....Robbo....Simmo....(leader)....Curnow....(brave)....Walker was magnificent.....a team effort to show what we're made of.

We've watched the last quarter twice tonight.....are we normal?.........don't care....
