THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT THIS WEEK HAS BEEN CAMPO'S WALK

Reckon Karl is looking shaky, so that will be three.

Tyrant a small point but relevant...

...the thread started with a message of deliver next year or else......which now we have the definition of success clearer (i.e player development, committment etc rather than necessarily wins)....i agree

.....however, you have shifted to how much change we need this year e.g at least 11 of the nominated list.....now i am getting confused

what is more important? a much more improved performance next year or change this year?

the reason i am splitting hairs is that i think we all get caught up in the emotion of what we as supporters think we need now and well change has to be better (e.g trade for "Ted Richards because has to be the solution to our defence woes" or do whatever you can to get me Daniel McAllister)

For me, i do believe that we have to start making Denis and Collo more accountable, however that milestone comes next year with on the field perfomance - maybe not in wins, but by seeing those "little" shining lights come through

the measure of their success in this trade week or draft day will be seen next year in the field of battle and not measured by a two year contract to lance or otherwise etc.

thats fine.. but thats more a comment about their management than the practice of playing players too early.

the kids all SHOULD be playing next year..... it all depends on what goals you set for them

I just wanted to use the phrase "shrinking violet" in a sentence.

I think the kids should all be given a taste. The problem we've had is that our leaders have been so enormously superb that the kids have been left to fend for themselves.

Well, they're kind of linked.

Deliver next year..... and here's the minimum requirement from my point of view.

Nope, didn't expect much else. But when you think about it, the issues with Lance, Campo and Lappo have been enough to keep us entertained. Let alone the smoke around Fev.

Still given that Campo may not be at the club next year should bring a smile to a couple of faces.

Campo was the only highlight so far.

Still would have liked to have seen the back of Lance at least.

Ah I dunno, I guess I just wanted something to happen where we would benefit and get something in return.

There's still a day to go, and it's the last day - which means shitloads more trading than the rest of the week (normally).

True.
Can't see us getting anyone though.

Unless that Sporn trade goes through.

Apart from that...another non event Trade Period for the CFC.

Trade week is always a bit of a let down. Usually trades are ordinary players for ordinary players - Allan/Murphy for Bannister/ McGrath - or top side trading for player who might be the piece in the jigsaw to get them a flag. ie Ottens and Nathan Thonpson. Hard to say who won out of those until the draft picks deliver or not and Ottens and Thonpson perform or not over several seasons. If it's a weak draft as they say, maybe it's better to stick with your tradeables. If Fev kicks 120 for us and Whit wins the b&f we looked like geniuses, if not we look like dummies. If we trade Fev for a high pick and he kicks a 100 and we draft the new Murray Vance we look stupid. I assume DP has last call on the list. Don't know if it was right or wrong to sign him for 3 more years but we have, so let him decide what he needs to do.

See no value in trading Norman, he probably will waste his talent, but at least he does have talent, whoever we swap him for probably won't have talent. But yes, need to see some real improvement right across the team in 06 I really hope we don't trade Fev, I can see a real big season from him this year. DP was working on his weaknesses this season, need to utilise his strengths in 06

PJ, I think you'll feel better shortly. All this emotion for Richards is abit odd - the guy is no good and fits in our Vance / Massie category. Not tall enough to be KPP and not fast / skilled enough to be anything other. He's a good one to miss.

Plus, think of how you'll feel on draft day, with MM coming on board!
