Carlton president Stephen Kernahan weighed into the saga at his pre-match function address before the match.

Speaking directly to Little, who was in the room, Kernahan expressed sympathy for his counterpart.

"I think what the clubs are saying is to try to get it resolved as quickly as you can, but it's easy for us to say as outsiders," Kernahan said.

"It's been a really tough time for the club . . . we know all the people involved, they're very good football people and let's not lose sight of that fact.

"They haven't killed anyone, nothing drastic has happened and this should be sorted out between Essendon**** and the AFL. So I wish you all the best and I say that sincerely."

If this statement by Sticks is true, I want Sticks kicked off the Board or resign immediately.

A statement that has no understanding of the gravity and seriousness of the issue.

agreed just piss him off.

to play this situation down shows you how clueless this bloke is tbh. with him in charge of our club it wont be long before we start running our own supplements program & injecting our players with unknown substances from all over the world. but hey thats ok, we wont kill anyone and nothing drastic will happen :screwy: :screwy: :screwy:

There is no legal mechanism or scope to clean the entire Board out.

I suggest everyone read the document. Its designed to promote Clubs within Clubs.

Hopefully the AGM isn`t the fluff it normally is this year.

itll be fluff... only little old ladies have time to get there...... with their blue hair n sticks dolls

Sticks,

You are weak.
You are dumb.
You are in over your head
You have 15 years of administrative and leadership failure as your CV
You are the least competent president in the AFL
You are the product of a corrupted club culture, and have not fixed it.
You preside over a dysfunctional board, which oversees a mediocre organisation, which runs a failed football department.
You are an embarrassment, and so is your club.

Justify your presence as a club administrator.
You are there because you're an affable chump and you were a great player a million years ago.
You mean well, but you have a legacy of failure.

You cling to power with the excuse that the club would descend into political war if you weren't there.
You cling to power with the excuse that nobody better has put their hand up
The above conditions exist thanks to your failure as a leader
You have, through your lack of leadership and management, created the conditions that require you to remain as leader and manager.
That's simply insane.

Sticks is costing us credibility, respect and memberships. What do other clubs think when they see Sticks and Jeanie as our Pres/VP? They see a club that is a joke. I for one will never buy a membership at this club unless I start seeing some serious effort to drag ourselves into the modern era.

Without genuine effort going into this task we are condemned to an era which will match the Tigers past 30 years. The sad part is we are already 11 years in and face many more years with no hope of success.

we are actually 18 years in and counting

we have become a laughing stock

thank god I experienced Carlton success when I was younger

otherwise I would be like those St Kilda or Bulldog supporters waiting half a century for a premiership

can't believe it has come to this

He won't step down he has to fix this.
Sticks is the man.!
There is nobody who can do this better... He said so himself.

Where would we be without the great man?

Extend his presidency he has much to give us......

Stricks the club is in your image.... I saw an advert yesterday of people making things with their own hands. Hand made. Made to last.
Sticks had hand crafted Carlton.
Legendary man.
Captain of the century.
Great football department guy
Great club administrator.
Now a legendary president.
The men has done it all....

Its all good for Sticks to step down, but who replaces him? Luke Sayers doesn't want it as he doesn't have the time, and Fahour doesn't have the numbers. (by the way, I don't endorse Sticks as our prez, at all!!!)

The club is being run by a boys club - Sticks, Swann, Pratts, and Elliott (in the background - he and sticks remain close and Sticks gets a lot of counsel from Elliott)

Watched the docu on Fox about the tigers
So many parallels
Tony Jewell said the most profound thing
When a board member leaves a club the club should be in a better position from when that board member arrived

On that basis the board should resign

have had some interesting discussions about the Judd deal
I disagreed with it at the time
because its the old Carlton
get the best player in the land because we are Carlton
Its the short term fix
We gave up 3 guys to get him who were all young and potentially good players
Armfield who was part of the deal has been ok but he is a limited player who isn't skilful enough for the AFL
Judd was 24 when he came
The assumption from the board at the time was that we were good enough with Judd on the list to win a flag
That is not the case
Short term fixes are a thing of the past
But our club continues to go down this path
Its past is its greatest enemy

The members of this board don't get
Just like Graeme Richmond didn't get it at Richmond and stayed too long

Now we have Malthouse
Again the short term fix
Give him a bucket full of money
We have the potential to win a flag
We only need a good coach to give us this chance

As this year has proved we arnt good enough
and there are so many things wrong with this club that success
wont happen
The example of Betts I gave on another thread is just one of many

Malthouse is 60. His never been the easiest going character but I reckon he has lost the plot because what he was told by the club that the list was excellent is wrong.

This will probably be his last stint as coach.
malthouse only coaches for ultimate success
He knows that its probably going to be a decade before we can have success
And Mick wont be around then

Its another example of a board out of touch with footy

As this docu on the Tigers showed successful clubs are patient and don't go the quick fix
They recruit well and develop players with high standards in tow.

Carlton have [REDACTED] up here
personally I don't care much about the club because I know we will never reach any form of success until a completely new board comes on board and are a bunch of people who know what it really takes to have long term success

And it seems that only a challenge will cause this because the members of the board don't know their time is up because of their stupidity and ego.

The board mirrors our playing list - lack of talent coming thru and not enough leadership.

Interesting to hear Thompsons comments about the state of Essendon** when he arrived...

http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/mark-b ... 6705544118

Quote:
"Everyone looks at Essendon* as this great club", he said on Channel 9 last night. "I walked into Essendon* (and thought), we’re not a very good club, there’s a lot of areas we need to fix up, let’s get on with this job.

Not just blaming the board, but … the football department, every part of how we were doing thing wasn’t up to a level that was going to get us back up to the top eight, top four, preliminary finals, grand finals."

Same comments are relevant here.

How long has Sticks had to do something about it ?

We can blame Sticks all we like.

Until someone steps up to the plate to fix this club, he's what we're stuck with.

He's not doing a great job, but at least he's there.

If there's a legitimate challenger, where are they and what are they doing?

Too scared to take on Sticks?

Please....

Too scared to take on a badly damaged club, more like it.
