The problem with Carlton though is that one night you hear Chris Judd say "We need people to come into the side who are competitors" and the next morning, you hear from a reliable source that the deal with Jack Watts and Carlton is as good as done.

yeah, my first thought when I heard that was, was that a shot across the list managements bow ?

The issue is that for Watts is he coming to a club with a much better culture than Melbourne, especially when it comes to developing young talent?

..unsure of the McLean injury, but if soft tissue out.. ..Robbo i can see merit.. ..Army stuffed a couple of chances but he works hard, took the game on and took on some responsibility, earlier this year we saw him kick enough to back him in.. ..AJ and Doogs not out?..

Case of having our cake and eating it.

Let some players have a farewell game/one last chance to prove themselves.
If we fall into the 8, might as well rest Garlett, Kreuzer, Walker, etc.

That's the spirit.

I'd like to see that and hope we beat Port and we play finals at Bumbers expense, play Pies and win in the first round.....how good would that be!!!

Bumbers  Tigers  and Pies  ...way to go. He who laughs last.....

Then in the next round of finals we play and beat Swans.......... dreaming again.

I feel a sense of jealousy when we dont play finals. :screwy:

Considering Port have nothing to play for and both Wingard (groin) and Hartlett (susp) will be missing we SHOULD win this one.

Scotland didn't kick on his right foot last night apparently due to injury so I doubt he'll come up.

My changes would be:

Out
McLean (inj)
Scotland (inj)
Casboult

In
Walker
Ellard
Kreuzer

You prefer Warnock over Casboult.

I kinda swing the other way these days because Casboult takes a good mark.
Last night we bombed it up to him in a crowded pack. Could have received a couple of frees too.
Warnock doesnt seem to bring much for the team IMO.
I wish we had Nic Nat or Mumford or Cox with Kreuzer.

It would be a shame not to give Ellard another senior game after injury.

Kreuzer and Walker are a must.....for Scotland and McLean.

Ellard would be handy in the midfield. Probably moreso than Graham.

I hope we select to win...and you know MM really does care about winning.

Rexy if it means we play finals and Bumbers miss it is good.
If it means they lose picks 1 & 2 in the next 2 drafts it's good.
If they suspend the cheats for 12 months from coaching positions that's good too.

Watching Carlton win is good too....only have to look at last week.

Bumbers came to play and so did we. There was a good contest. ebbs and flows and we had the lead.
We missed too many shots which are wasted chances we created. We are creating opportunity.
We lacked leaders to take the game by the scruff of the neck like Judd could.
We are thereabouts and when everyone puts in we win if we play close to 100 minutes.

Something there to work with and its more than 3 players.
I reckon we are a better team than Port and Im interested to see if that's the case.

Richmond are the big losers...miss out on a home final against Port, instead face us, Norf, etc. I know we're crap, but we have a fair record against them!

I bought tickets along with about 5 workmates who just about all go for Port Adelaide (one horrible Pie fan in there) thinking that odds were we would be playing off for 8th.

I am so pissed that we lost to Essendon**.... not only did it ruin my Saturday night on a weekend I am working, it has meant next weekend's match doesn't mean a damn thing. Finally get to go to a Blues match here in Adelaide and I might as well spend the afternoon poking myself in the eye with a burnt stick. @#$%&! me...

Maybe I can get close enough to tell off Murph and Gibbs. Let them know they need to cut their hair, get some tattoos and find a bit of testicular fortitude or piss of to the Demons.

I thought the problem with Murphy and Gibbs is, ShanDog, is that they actually do get their hair cut.

..hope we play Hendo and Bolt as a KPF combo, and leave Bolt out of the ruck.. ..he's really struggling with the fitness required to play KPF/Ruck, and i reckon his natural KPF game isn't too shabby, and he should be allowed to develop as a pure KPF with Hendo guiding him.. ..ideally i'd have Krooz as a combo with Hammer, but injuries, yanno..

This is a nothing game for Port... can't go up, can't go down... they may rest a few for the following week

I fully expect us to win this game, especially if Essendon** get done tomorrow night and we find ourselves in 8th spot... but then again

Pending the outcome of Monday's Penalties on the bombers which does seem very likely that they will lose their points and place in the 8th, I wonder if our boys are going to show a " Now or Never" Mentality and go over there and beat PORT at their own game!!!

Reality of this season says that we are not good enough to match it with PORT and they will beat us by 6 Goals, regardless of the situation and what's at stake. Unless of course we can produce a team effort where everyone plays above their level. Doesn't happen too often.

A Team like North or even Brisbane have a better chance of doing better in the finals than us. We will just be making the numbers.

If we are going to be handed a finals spot by default, at least earn some respect and beat PORT, at least this way, we have something beyond the finals to look forward to!!!

We could lose and still finish 9th if results go our way. I'm hoping for the following;

We win by 3 goals.
Adelaide defeat West Coast by a kick in a low scoring match.
Collingwood beat the Roos by less than twenty points.
Sydney sneak home against Hawthorn.
Geelong demolish Brisbane.
Richmond beat The Bombers by 10 goals.

We finish clear in 9th, play finals by default and face up to Richmond in two weeks, Saturday afternoon, at the MCG. Richmond would be shitting their pants at the prospect.

It would be funny. They'd spew if they lost to the team that finished in their favourite 9th position. Finals experience for our boys...and I don't think mm is silly enough to let it paper over the cracks.

Living in Adelaide I hope we win.

This is our only game my family can attend for the season. Last year our two matches were infamous in different ways. The 10 goal thrashing to Port at AAMI which started the coaching upheaval and the whole tribe flew over for the Friday night 'Chickenwingate' against Nth.

My son has lived on the AFL Predictor all season. He's ridden the rollercoaster harder than I have, but I find myself now almost living the season through him. Making the finals is almost irrelevant to me, but try telling that to someone who claims the greatest moment in his 9 years so far was being able to attend the 2011 Elimination final.

Last night left me hollow for so many reasons, none more so than the deflation of the now lack of build-up for Saturday's match. 24 hours later I'm slightly more up for it.

I'm sure whatever plans are in place for the off-season wont change on the back of one or two wins if they were to happen.

We - that is the fans - and the media get caught up in ladder positions, but they cant be taken as the be all of where a club is at and there is no more so a glaring example of this than us currently.

Technically we could lose this week, win an Elimination the week after, and finish 6th with a 11-12 record. On the flip side we could lose next week and finish as low as 12th. Six ladder spots difference, but doesn't make the squad any stronger or weaker.

Internally though the plans that I suspect are already in place wont change. MM's been around for 30 years. 3 flags, 6 GF's, Top 4 finishes etc. He's not going to hang his hat on 1 finals win, and label it as any sort of 'success'.

HTFU people. We are odds on to play finals. Pies and cats will win and we have a 61 point buffer over adelaide. Port don't care about this game and will be resting up. As far as earning the final, yes it sucks we lost on sat, but we have beaten north, crows, lions and eagles so please explain to me why they deserve it over us?? Essendon* don't deserve it and we are next in line. When luck shines, you take it.
And I am taking my family and 2 boys to their first Carlton game so we better bloody play well!
