If you don't throw the ball out, chances are you will get pinged for holding the ball. Maybe. Some times.

I liked Waitey down back, made it feel more secure.
until we get more premium backs,
looks like we'll have to use both walks and Waitey.
eventually I'd like to see both of them rotated up forward as well.

It seems if you are wrapped up immediately you still have to thrash your arms around even though

a) you've had no opportunity

b) the ball has been pinned to you instantly

Your use of the word 'throw' is ideal in this situation verbs, given throws are now allowed on a regular basis.

Champion Data need to add another stat column for them.

Sensitive soul. Chill a bit. It's the Internet, not the House of Commons. Was just a U2 gag which obviously went way over your head. No biggie. Too obtuse for you, so we'll both learn from that. Next time I'll lower my eyes just a tad.

Waite down back is a no brainer

Experienced big body

As someone else said makes the D more secure

Agrees with someone else's call McCinness and Bootsma can't be in same side. Really Bootsma shouldn't be in at all, he's just not ready. Playing him on Riewoldt was madness. In saying that I reckon young Bootsma must have some resolve else Mick wouldn't keep playing him. Kid will make it but it'll take time.

Our first "inspirational" win of the year - pity it was on the rebound after last weeks insipid effort.
The real test will be if we can maintain this intensity/passion on a more regular basis commencing with Essendon* next week.

nice work Marcou. Had the no.34 on my jumper when I was a kid too

Won't waste any energy on the wasted chanes to make the finals this year. We're still a chance despite having "blown" about 4 chances to sew up a spot. It's all about the future now:

Gibbs. Been potting him for ages, BUT.......today when given a role of hunting the ball, he was superb. Mick will have taken note and surely Gibbs must be the hunted from now on. He was extremely creative and cool under pressure. On today's form he should be untouchable.

Thouhy had another great game and is a massive long bomb for goal :smoking: This bloke will be in our top 6 in no time the way he's going.

Mitch had a ripper game. Just keep bringing that and he'll stay on the list. Thought Knockers was really good - yes his taps don't always go to our guys, but we did win the clearances, and he gave a bit around the ground. He and Kreuz should be our two rucks, but Hammer's trade value is minimal, so maybe they will still offer one of the two if they're chasing the young Lug from GWS.

Murph a big improvement, not back to best but showed something. Levi gave a contest and again managed to hit the scoreboard. He gets the nod over Rowe at the moment, but maybe give Rowey one full pre season to improve his tank and strength - after all he did go through a sh#tload last year. He CAN take a grab and is a nice kick which Levi ain't.

Menzel is that goal kicking HFF that we've been mising since well.......Clape or can't recall who else ?????

Graham certainly didn't look out of place, his kicking wasn't always too good, but he seemed very nervous early. Certainly a ball magnet, and has a lot of the Paul "Molly" Meldrums about him

This win meant a lot to Mick, as you could see in the box. Don't write the old bloke off just yet

Good call on Menzel being like Clape. Of course I see him having a much higher ceiling.

Rowe has poor hands. Casboult has poor feet. But without hands, a tall forward never gets to use his feet, so Cas gets the nod easily. Rowe's lucky to have a spot next year, maybe his hands come good, and he can be useful backup.

Anyone who thinks Mick's here because he's bitter or just wanted to top up his super just had to watch him losing it at times in the box today. He's a passionate, stubborn, egomaniac, successful, intelligent, knob, who gets results. And I'm glad we've got him.

Speaking of McInnes, I think you can tie in his development into Casboult's.

Its a big if, and not always going to work, but if you can get Kreuzer and ? (lets say Warnock based on today) to work as an effective ruck duo, Casboult as the stay at home forward, and working towards a tactic where he's subbed off mid to late in the third, Hendo goes forward and McInnes plays the second tall defender role.

Casboult's lack of impact late in the game worries me more than his kicking.

Not enough credit to Jamison either. Went onto a white hot Riewoldt and gave him nothing for the rest of the game.

Yet, some years back, Waite was abused on here from pillar to post for doing exactly the same thing.

Surely that rule can get thrown out now that there's a bag of spare balls behind the goals?

Yep, great call re Jammo. Doesn't get the credit when it's due .

My favourite bit was when they were peeing themselves in delight after kicking their 3 goal in the 1st. It was at this point I knew my money was safe.

Good enough for what? Making sponge cakes for the Girl Guides, beating the sixth placed side on a good day or winning a premiership?

I agree with some of those adjectives.
