Imagine if we had a crack in the first qtr and it wasn't delivered on a silver platter to Riewoldt.

Boots wasn't the right match up, but it looked worse for him on account of a poor team effort across the board.

This. Noticeable lift in intensity after qtr time....hard work pays off....who'd a thunk it?

It isn't his fault that he was assigned Riewoldt.

His best footy was in the 3rd quarter last week, on Jones as full back as a key post. It was worth a try.

Not to start the game with... poor move... thank god MM wasn't pigheaded enough to stick with it

BS you might not understand that a lot of midfielders prefer the ruck drop it at their feet.

SOme rucks like NN hit it beyond the inner circle...allowing their teammate to push their opponent IN towards the contest.

There are so many centre square nuances you lot don't seem to understand.

Whether the ruck can hit it at certain points on the clock, whether the midfielder likes it in space or dropped at the rucks feet.

Didn't matter where he tapped it, he tapped it to richmond players most of the time, even when he did punch it clear it went straight to Richmond players.

He gets plenty of taps, but he has negative control, it always goes where our players aren't!

Full marks to Robinson, Curnow, Brockfield, Gibbs and Casboult for the win.

Just a hungrier effort all round this week (after 1/4 time). Where was it last week?

No thanks to Yarran who tried his best to lose it for us in the last quarter.

Very good compared to his usual output is still woeful.

Gutsy win, best of the season. Hope it cements the mentality of our list - efforts gets reward. Great bday present for Uncle Mick and could be the line in the sand game we've needed to set the tone for 2014!

Yet we won the clearances 45 to 35, centre square 14-12, around the ground/throw in 31 to 23

Strange that!

Best game I have seen Murphy play this year. That was a proper captains game.

Really, I thought his work around the stoppages and his little 1% around the ground were very good.

IMO had a big influence.

Warnock's one of those players that needs more and more work.

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th quarter - it all causes the same damage on the scoreboard. If it works, well & good, if it doesn't you make a move. He slipped in the 1st contest (sloppy effort) but he was in the right position. The supply thereafter was pretty hard to stop, and the midfield was being split open too. It wasn't working in a lot of positions over the ground & moves were made.
Though likely Boots will be making way next week unless Essendon* are playing very tall up forward.

So did I .....he continually got the tap; and if our players can't take advantage of that; it's not his fault.

Who was it that said Casboult and Bell weren't AFL standard in the match thread???

Synbad

Mate, stick to what you're good at; bagging Ratts, Sticks and the recruiting dept, cause your footy knowledge is lacking

Warnock may have won plenty of taps, but they were mostly ineffectual. Maric pushed him off the ball time and again, yet Casboult actually outbodied Maric numerous times.

I liken Casboult to Stewie Loewe. Great hands but a shocking kick.
Loewe improved his kicking; give Casboult time and confidence and he will too.
