I am starting to repeat myself with my comments on this team but we are simply not good enough

not enough depth in our midfield

we will not play much better than we did tonight (with no significant injuries)

have too many holes in our team to be contenders

I would have played Graham and Menzel weeks ago (why are we persisting with Curnow and Robinson)

Why are Gibbs and Kreuzer untouchable?

Yarran will be traded

People bagging Gibbs' efforts tonight must have never seen Chris Mayne play and don't know how important he is to Freo.

Great effort by Gibbs tonight.

I just doubt that having Gibbs play a role like that is a luxury we can afford

Argue about the MC's choice but we already have people saying Gibbs was rubbish when he was a clear winner in a game that was finals intensity (from Freo anyway).

And it wasn't a loose man in defence role, he was on the their most important marking/goal kicking option .
Great game.

Gibbs played a very good game at CHB. Allowed Watson to go forward who also played well. Maine is a fantastic player. It was a great contest between he and Gibbs.

We did look like a pack of cripples in the last though. Was our pre season a little soft? Is our gameplan too taxing? Do we not have enough rotations because we are carrying 3 out of form specialist small forwards?

I think we need to rethink our best 22 ,team balance and the balance of our list.

Tonight showed the gap between a top 4 team and a team that is anywhere between 8-12th place.

Body size- check
Execution - check
Skill- check
Work rate -check
Talent- line ball
Midfield rotation- check
Ability and desire to spread -check
Decision making -check

I thought for 3 and a bit quarters we really tried but we simply are not good enough. we all now must realize we need to turn this list over to be competitive towards the top end and to play the style of accountable football that finals demands.

Got a real lesson tonight from a team that is in front of most of these above elements in my opinion.

Not sure about Warnock. We actually won the around ground clearances 11 to 5 on the last quarter, but it made stuff all difference.

Just slaughtered by gut running midfield types. Betts went into a few centre contests, but just dwarfed by the likes of Barlow, Mundy, Fyfe.

Their 'smalls', not only hit the scoreboard but had good numbers. Walters 17 and 4 goals, Ballantyne 17 and 3, Neale 24 and 2, Suban 18 and 2.

Who was our last effective lock down defender? Matthew Hogg?...

I don't think there has been many games to suggest any different, it's just that we suffer from 'problem of the year syndrome' where everything else gets downplayed. This year it's the midfield.

Think tonight showed the difference between a good coach and one that has passed his use by date

Curnow-Carrazzo-Lucas-Cachia-Robinson...one paced poor skilled. A captain who doesn't appear to be fit.

Get Graham and Menzel in there.

from that list i'd keep playing lucas and cachia - curnow is a backup type - cant play them all at once

carrazzo is done

robbo is trade bait

The problem is that our players git sucked into his tactics. He is a dog plain and simple, just walk away and concentrate on ur own game.

Freo are a very very good footy team, and they monstered us tonite. Betts is dreaming if he wants 600k in a new contract. Garrett and Yarran were also horrible tonite. Murphy us struggling big time, gibbs and Judd also had no impact. There is a mountain of work to do to get our beloved club to be a top 4 team. Bring in graham and Menzel and give them a go. Whilst Watson is much maligned, he was very good tonite. Simmo was awesome, and Scotland was good. Not much else though sadly.
