Laidler out for 4 weeks, had a screw removed.
White has had he's chance, now Watson gets he's chance.
Would like too see menzel and graham get a run at some stage.
Must win, but north is another team we struggle against.
Big big week coming up.....

Petrie, Black and Tarrant kicked 11 between them against Merrett, Patfull and Maguire. Lachie Henderson, reluctantly goes to Petrie. Can't afford to have Jamison give away 5 cms and 7kg and Henderson is our best defender. Our hand is forced. It's defensive, but it's the right move. Play Lachie forward and he gets the best full-back in the game. Jamison to Black and Watson to Tarrant. I think Watson was given the nod against the Saints with a view to getting some continuity into next week. Smart move with the Northern Blues having the bye.

Your other option is to put Rowe back to defense and play Henderson forward. It's a dilemma Uncle Mick and Wiley E. Coyote are going to have all week.

McIness can easily play on Black or Tarrant, so that leaves Watson and Jamo to pick up the other 2.

Henderson has to stay forward no matter what.

Perhaps Black. Tarrant has greater reach. Andy loses that aerial battle, but better on the ground. Petrie kicks 8 on Jamison. Easily isolated...just sit the ball on his head. Game over.

Apparently Tarrant went off with a sore knee and Hansen was concussed?

Good point. Rowe has had protracted spells in defence in the VFL at wouldn't surprise should he go straight to Petrie next week.
He does seem to run out of puff though and may not be able to run with him for the entire night.

I wouldn't be surprised for MM to put McInnes on Petrie at some point either.
I know it seems as a complete mis-match but AndyMac does use his body very in the contest and plays well against leading opponents.

Should we lose against North, it will be interesting the way we approach the rest of the year and for which players we don't play, whilst getting games into Graham, Menzel and co.

It's the midfield that worries me more than anything.

Carrots & Murphy struggling and Curnow & Armfield not existent as taggers and the three amigos contributing little.

IMO we are still relying on to few and don't work hard enough both ways.

I'd drop Garlett, put Yarran on a wing or HB and leave Eddie as our small fwd w time on the ball.

Like to see Graham come in, maybe Buckley. Tempted to have Menzel as well but not fit enough yet.

Having read this thread, it's clearly evident that the AFL should cancel the finals and give the Kangas the cup now.

Etihad for them is like PP used to be for us. They are a 6 goal better side there, maybe more. At present we must be the one of the very few teams in the league that doesn't have a home ground advantage. Clearly we are best at the MCG, but the teams we play there are better there as well, and we don't play there enough. Our record at Etihad is terrible.

Worried about this one. Only hope is for North to be 5 points up with two minutes to play. Their choke is worse than our choke.

I'm happy with Hendo or Walks..or swapping throughout.
(if possible!)

We need to keep our attack direct and to at least the two Kp's as last night.
They lead well and provided a coherent team.
Watson wasn’t disgraced and did well with the ball in hand and McIness is very solid.
If one is getting beat we can always swap them over with Rowe or Henderson, the options are there.
Our direction going forward will be telling and the angle of those scoring chances.
We really need to attack through the middle or at least centre the ball through hf.

Our defensive effort will be the most imperative factor as we are usually opened up at a ridiculously easy rate through the middle and North are a talented and fast team.
If they are allowed to use their speed and hit up options we will be ripped apart. Our smalls mid and forward need to be smart and accountable. They need to play tight and break at the right time.

We need to take the ascendency from the onset and make them accountable.
Thompson and Firrito will try and intimidate our forward and chuck some cheap shots. Henderson is a must forward and maybe even Casboult back in for some hurt.
We need Murphy, Gibbs and Mclean at their best.

Robo will come back into the side which means someone gets dropped. Most likely Watson!

Don't know if Robbo is a gimme, hasn't been setting the world on fire. No issue with him at NB's.
