Stop blaming the recruiting and go back to the core of the problem.

You can recruit duds or champs but if you don’t develop, instruct, discipline and coach them you are never going to achieve anything except a lazy bunch of misfits like we have now.

The reason I’m pissed off with Malthouse is because we had the best opportunity to turn these talented but weak pricks into a strong disciplined unit but failed by his every decision.
From the get go from the way around about picking the captain to his stupid game plan and structures to his team selections and his match day moves.

Failed on every front.
What a waste of money and more importantly time.

Yes now it’s all about the rebuilding because his initial efforts have been to the detriment to the Carlton Football Club but as long as it suits Mick’s process.

a) Recruiting has been shit, you can only develop shit so far.
b) Ratten had five years to fix these lazy misfits and you expect MM to fix it in 9 months. Delusional!! He has tried and it has taken him 9 months to see they cannot be helped. Ratten did not see this after 5 years of negligence.
c)Part time development coaches , who's fault was that let me tell you, Ratten
d)What waste of Money, how much is MM on, we wasted 600k per year on Ratten, and on davies and josephs contracts which will not be renewed well that's 1 million all up, add in all the other duds we signed on his watch and we will probably save money with MM their, or at least not pay money to linament thieves.

And tell me,who have we replaced fev with, how long ago was that, the best Ratten could do was try and get Bradshaw for around 500k per year, thank got he told Ratten to get stuffed.

Show everyone what great knowledge you have and great observational skills you hold.

After that answer Harkers question.

redback... Ratten built this list of one dimmensional half back flankers...
he built this list of tals that cannot play
he built this list of players who wilt under pressure
he built this list of a midfield group that comprises rookies

The other guy has walked into this...!!!

What was harkers question???

oh and ratts painstakingly built this list of players who wanted to see the back of him last year and many before that....

:yikes: nit sure what your argument actually is.

buckley novice coach took collingwood to a prelim....

Don't forget Ratts inherited a lot of slightly less-than-All-Australian players from Pagan too, before he and Hughes started moulding the team...

-Ackland
-Hartlett
-Benjamin
-Anderson
-Bentick
-Austin
-Blackwell
-Cloke
-Saddington

And that's before the disappointment of picks like Steven browne, Jake Edwards .... Chris Johnson.... etc etc

People kept saying back then that we were still feeling the sting of the draft penalties, and that the list would slowly come good.

Clearly we are either moving at a snails pace... or we are stuck in a groundhog day spiral.

wow...kreuzer + yarran + pick 8 according to that clip is a smart move?

as if kreuzer and yarran arent already overs we'd throw in 8 where there are generally some very good players available?

would be madness.

i told u how it works... by the end of the day we will give them both first and second and K and yarran because we told everyone we want him ......

Carton Negotiation 101
also includes tell everyone u will be marching X player out the door and then want fair trade....

That's ok coz mid's are everywhere, easy to find, a dime a dozen.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Except we haven't managed to find one who wasn't a number one pick for about 10 years (although Judd was three originally  ).

Of course we should be interested in Boyd but it would be putting too many eggs in one basket going ahead with a trade like that.

The only one where we have really come out on top was trading dipshit for pick 11 and Henderson...although that was a bit by accident after initially requesting Bradshaw/Rischitelli.

That hasn't happened at all.
Barrett and Darcy said we should go after Boyd, and apparently for Kreuzer, Yarran and our first round pick

Can't blame the club for this one, Synners

The Boyd stuff is so sad but so predictable.

You have a thin list and you go and trade out three players to bring in one. That'll work. And in three years' time when Boyd is fully developed it will still look like we don't have a forward line because we won't have a midfield that can kick the ball to him.

The shining light comes from Buddy's manager that he thinks he'll stay at the Hawks. Which means GWS will stick with Boyd and save us from our own stupidity.

Remember when Melbourne were offering us a first rounder for Lance and we said no??? Clueless trading back then, and we're still clueless now.

SOS is ex Carlton.

We can hope he contracted couldntpickhisnoseitis when he played for us. We might be in with a show of a fair trade.

BTW, a lot has been made of that meeting between SOS and our CEO et al. I REALLY HOPE that they've consulted the newbie in recruiting. He may still remember what Stephen Wells' opinion of Boyd was.

cimm cos we dont have recruiters that have an idea... we should poach one geelong recruiter per year deep into the season and take him to the Visy debrief chamber for a
"What would Wells do?"..

Excellent idea!!!

Seems the only way.

We could amend it to " What would Beatson, Hine or Wells do?"

I'd even accept " What would Rendell do?"
