Hendo won't be captain, don't think he's been 'groomed' for the role like Murph has been. Mind you, he did an awesome job rallying the troops in the forward line the other night.

From being at the game Mon night and watching behind the scenes.......I would say the 'actual' leaders are.....Walker, Jamo, Henderson, Armfield and Judd (purely from his example). I know they were prob our best players so will see again this week!!

I'm amazed the players voted for the group above. They are on the inside of course. Just from the stands it seems odd. Carrots is an obvious leader though.

Then how about Captain of the forwardline?

Hendo is a hot footballer.

People forget that he's still young, but because he was a bloody good tall ( pick 7) he made the firsts at the Lions in his first year, let alone being a damn good CHB for the Blues.

I'm with you there Bondi. When we were doing the trade with the Lions re Fev and was always hoping we ask for Hendo. Rapped that we got him. He's a beauty I reckon.

I've said it before...years ago...people think I'm an idiot but I was certain that we had the wrong mix of personalities at Carlton a long time ago and it seems that these personalities have remained the same as their bodies have matured.

Too reflective, too nice and too aware of their limitations. If they feel there is a hurdle that they can't jump they will stop trying instead of giving a red hot go, they'd rather quit because they don't want to be embarrassed. We need some with arrogance that enables them to believe they are capable of anything. I doubt anyone fits that bill at Carlton and we need to address it.

We need to get rid of that "nice boy from a nice family" prerequisite that so often influences our recruiting....especially our high picks.

Yet many on TC put shit on Essendon* who are probably the opposite in mindset to our players ... this might explain why they have many come from behind wins, yet we have so few ... Essendon* players will bust a gut and when they lose, we joke about 'bravery'.

I would much rather our players have an attitude of "failure being better than regret" ... by really taking the game on from the word go ... then if we fail to win, we won't have any regrets.

When we played the saints in the corresponding game last year we were playing for TOP SPOT ... I really believe that our players didn't feel they belonged in the company of the TOP SPOTTERS and shied away from applying the effort that TOP SPOTTERS do so often.

When i attended the dead rubber against St Kilda late last year I was front row on level 1 and I was so appalled at how we just took so much sledging from the Saints....they came out and right from the get go they were talking shit and getting under Carltons skin...and apart from Walker putting Milne in his place we just stood and took it....every time i looked there was a saints player yelling and screaming and talking shit to us and being a complete smart arse. They really got into our heads and we acted like passive school children getting bullied. Gee it annoyed me.

True, and this is why Carrazzo or Simmo should have been appointed until someone younger and better comes along. Murphy is no leader and I'm not basing this on last night, he doesn't seem to have the ability to inspire the players verbally, before and during the game. Not sure what he is like off field behind closed doors but communication doesn't seem to be his strong point. He is a great player but not a leader like Hodge, Watson, Maxwell etc

Ray McLean and leading teams shudder to think how much that cost.
