Actually, we picked flankers to play in the midfield and some of them aren't even that good at being flankers. :?

Yarran and Garlett...biggest cheats in the game. At every 50/50 contest their headed toward goal before te ball is won.

Gibbs....for a player of his talent to be largely unaccountable and touch it 16 times is inexcusable.

Kreuzer....was manhandled my Ben Hudson....embarrassing.

Playing Walker deep in defence, even when the game had to be won...just dumb.

I could go on but I can't be arsed

Always a pattern of having few picks after the early one....look at Geelong's picks.

Geelong know what it's about. Drafting midfielders deep as well.

Look at the Christensen/Duncan draft!

Quality of picks and number of picks. Failed in both areas.

As club said MM needed to start the cull last year - they could pay out SQUILLIONS to the coaches but couldn't pay out Davies/Joseph etc?

We could also see last year who needed to have their contract cut.

In between types? I think Graham is as pure a mid which you can get which is good. Definitely NOT a Hughes type.

No more third tall plodders!

Graham and Menzel should get more games and our midfield depth will improve.

Being saying for awhile that we were better off getting the Collingwood recruiting team tather than Swann, Brown and Malthouse.

I take my hat off to Collingwood ... they are recruiting a quick, skilful and hungry mosquito fleet ... what are we doing ?

We are all over the shop at the moment. How did we assemble so many mono paced players with poor disposal and poor decision making ?

From here we need to go back to basics ... we need to look at getting Laidler back to half back ... get some run and confidence back into Yarran by playing him half back ... Walker goes to the forward line to add a missing dimension ... improve our midfield rotations so that we mix in some speed of Betts and Gartlett.

Need to introduce Graham and Menzel at different times.

menzel and graham might be good
menzel was a no brainer
graham was reccmended by stevens.

malthouse said no in betweens.. but rogers hughes are so used to freo profiling .. that i dnt reckon they can hot the target too often...

i certainly wouldnt be waiting 4 years to see if rogers can... id be taking someone NOW.. that has a better strike rate from another club

were pathetic!!!

Anyone still think we shouldn't trade Yarran and Gibbs for No 1 (Tom Boyd) now ?

Where does a mini rebuild turn into a full rebuild?

I think its more than mini and less than full.

It`s a full rebuild.
The only thing this board has done successfully is get early picks.

Which ultimately aren't working out.

we need look no further than the likes of Sydney and Geelong, as to how to recruit and develop correctly.

Another thing ... Armfield is not a sub ... playing him sub "colds" him out of games ... he needs to be in the starting 18 and that intensity at the start of games is his rev up.

MM can put some stability back into the team with Laidler half back and Yarran in defence to get some run and confidence in their game ... the only thing stopping this is his arrogance and stubbornness.

Also the decision to not play Yarran and Betts in the Northern Blues during the bye has proved to be a shocker.

Interesting on the radio they said that Andrew McKay delivered a huge spray to the players post game.

Matthews and Hartley were talking about how Betts, Yarran, Garlett cant play through the midfield which limits our flexibility and depth. In fairness, Synbad was telling us this in 2011.

Collingwood seemed to have a swarm of 178-182cm guys who hit the contest hard, ran hard, and could use it.

Part of tonight was talent, plenty though was mental weakness. Cant play like we did in the first 25 minutes, only to lose it so quick. Those late junk time goals in the 1st were more scarring than losing Waite.

List imbalance is now glaring. Collingwood got as much out of a battler in Hudson, a kid in Witts at an outcast in Krakourer as we did out of Betts, Yarran, Garlett, Kreuzer, Casboult + of course Warnock, Hampson, Rowe who all cost 1st and 2 round picks.

Season is probably shot, but as side note Fremantle were also 6-7 at this time last year, and went on to win 8 of their last 9.

It is important we finish strongly for 2014, regardless of what can be salvaged from 2013....

I don't see Effes' point. Give us five years starting from 1995. We haven't even contested a premiership in 15 years and even that one was a fluke. Let's get good and then not rebuild for six years. :?
