Same old same old. Can't take our chances early. Not without hope at 3/4 time, only to have the opposition out score us in the last quarter. We just keeping losing/stuffing up pivotal moments; lack of confidence and/or belief.
What worried me was this loss didn't hurt at all. I watched with the resignation of the supporter who has lost hope, who knew what was going to happen and then watched it unfold. At three quarter time a non Carlton supporting friend said to me "they could win this". I told him, "no, the Swans will pull away in the last quarter". He couldn't understand my negativity, I told him I was only being realistic. Then we watched what I had predicted occur.
So to 2014. This must be how Richmond supporters have felt for decades.
It did go according to script.
We really need to tweak our gamplan to make sure we actually get some score on the board when dominating our opposition. Right now its too easy for the opposition.
We are all too pumped up on keeping the ball in our half and winning that stat that we fail realise this doesnt help us score and infact we give up score on the 20% of time it is not in our half.
Perhaps we should experiment with giving up some ground then tightening up , stealing the ball back and using the space infront of us to create more realistic scoring opportunities because trying to score with 36 players packing into our half is too hard for our 22. It is a waste of energy.
Oppositon coaches would be just sitting back counting the minutes until we are done banging our head against a brick wall.
Gameplan is too 2010 and so far there is no b plan.
