My boy Lance will be at the club next year...

I hope we can get rid of the rubbish... Fev... a headcase.
We dont need head cases at Carlton...

Richmond bound to play with the other head case in Richo i hope...

We might even be fortunate enough to land ourselves Jay Scultz for that headcase.
Im with Mickster on this... and BB2005.. and Blue Mark and Surrey...

Lance >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> rest of our list...

How terrible! He's had one good season in 5 years after 4 years of failing to provide value for what he was paid & now he has to take a pay cut!

Monday is D-day for Lance
If Ricky Nixon isn't the biggest Tool in football then only Demetriou could come close to surpassing him.

Whitnall to know tomorrow if he is still a Blue

THE playing future of Lance Whitnall should be known by tomorrow after the out-of-contract Blue meets several clubs today, including Melbourne.

While Whitnall's manager Ricky Nixon yesterday said he would be surprised if Carlton let Whitnall and Brendan Fevola go, Melbourne has made no secret of its interest in Whitnall. It will gauge his response to its overtures today before trade week kicks off tomorrow.

Carlton chief executive Michael Malouf said the Blues would not be in contact with Whitnall over the weekend, having tabled an offer the club believed to be "both responsible and fair".

"Lance knows all the issues." Malouf said. "We're expecting to hear from him early next week."

Nixon said he was confounded by the offer to Whitnall after the 26-year-old was one of the stronger performers for Carlton this year, finishing third in the Blues' recent best-and-fairest count.

He said the deal that the Blues had signed Brendan Fevola to mid-year — for three years and worth more than $1 million — was a sticking point in the negotiations for Whitnall. "I'd say that, I'm happy to say that," Nixon said on 3AW.

"He's going to meet with a couple of clubs tomorrow, I know that, and probably by Monday we'll all know what's going to happen, I'd say.

"I think it's a situation where he wants to look after his own best interests and he's had to take a hefty pay cut in a season where he's had one of his best seasons in 10 years.

"Yet there's other players who have had terrible seasons and they got $200,000 pay rises, so you work it out. I'm not disappointed with Carlton footy club, I'm just disappointed with the situation.

"The clubs that have spoken to me have said what would you be looking for, and it's probably fair to say that from that it's pretty clear that if Lance was to leave Carlton, it would have to be to a club that could win a premiership in the next three or four years."

Can I ask who the others (note the plural) are who played shite but got $200k pay rises?

SOunds like the club is saying you know where we are Lance, we're not chasing you. Sounds a lot better than what we've been hearing.

I hope the bidding war goes well tomorrow Lance.

Thats what im saying..... Lance is a GUN footballer..
Im sure he will be ready to step up and play on the best defenders in the land next year instead of Fev doing that (poorly may i add.. even though he carried a groin problem and had both of his hands operated on )...

Lance is the man to do it... hes ready!!!.. hes primed!!!

Just give him the 400k... and stop this nonsense with the conditions that he needs to remain fit and keep his body in shape.
Its an insult to our next captain that a clause like that would be inserted in his contract.

glad they removed it ...

Im sure he is ready to take the game by the scruff of the neck...

Leadership is what we need.. and Lance is our provider!!!!

From the sounds of it, it looks like Whitnall will be leaving...Also something mentioned about Ryley Dunn and that he will be used as trade bait...Sounds like we will know by Monday...Freo have done a really dirty deal in signing Dunn and now offering him to other clubs behind his back... ....That's just not right

If Fev is traded, then isn't this the exact thing we've done to him? We signed him on a 350K/year contract and we want to get rid of him.

It's a ploy to stop players going into the PSD which we've effectively stopped from doing.

The fact that Whitnall has not been signed and told to wait til trade week (true he wants more than the club can afford) tells me that the club is not concerned about losing him (despite what Malouf might say publicly).

Lappin has been the priority signing up til now, even before Whitnall hence my argument that the club is not too concerned if Whitnall walks.

I understand what you are saying but in terms of what they "supposedly" did to Dunn, is that they signed him, he thinks he is staying and is happy at Freo and now they are offering him to other clubs without him knowing...Fev knows whats going on and i'm sure he's had chats with Denis and others about it...Dunn was left in the dark about it and thats just not right, especially for a 19 year old, just settling in to Freo after a move from Victoria...Plus, in a way, although I don't agree with it, Fev warrants being traded with his attitude...AFAIC there have been no issues with Dunn...

If Lance is looking at Fev and saying "He got more money, so I want more money too" then what of the other players? Are they then entitled to say "Lance was paid $400,000 a year even when he was playing poorly, I want to be paid $400,000 and not give it my all too"?

Lance should be comparing himself to Waite who signed for just over 700k over 3 years. (240k a season).

At that rate he is entitled to about half of what he wants.

Okay, so that's where we differ. I thought once Lance was moved out of the forward line it began to function (french in the ruck also helped).

Lance doesn't want to move as he is builing a very very expensive house somewhere in melbourne and he would be stuffed if he had to go interstate...

He will only go to another victorian club.....Unless he has no choice and has to go in the PSD...then we miss out on pick 107..

The Ryley Dunn situation simply highlights the hypocrisy of Ricky "Self-Interest" Nixon. On one hand, he's claiming shock at Dunn's name just being mentioned in terms of a possible trade (it's hardly a done deal) whilst he's prepared to shop Whitnall around to the highest bidder.

Seems like classic double standards ... the player is allowed to explore all options but the clubs must display loyalty and not even discuss potential trades.

F#$k off Nixon!

Unfortunately player managers don't always appear to have the players best intrest at heart.
Some feel they need to be part of the media circus, hence bumping up their own profile. These self serving parasites are contributing to the disharmony among team mates. It's none of Nixon's business what Fev's contract is so stop putting a wedge between players.
Regards Pedro.
