It was Lucas a few weeks ago and when Walker dribbled that attempt everyone just goes flat.

The mistakes are one thing but FFS fellas you need to keep your heads up.

Was a bad miss but I saw it more as the team tiring after working so hard to come back than it dropping its bundle.

I thought we ran the game out reasonably but stopped like we were shot after that.

We go from pressing and pressing and running hard before and after the 2E goal to nothing after the Walker miss.

Not much belief in this crew.

Agree, fancy a massive game like this and you start with a 3 point 1st qtr, that is an absolute disgrace to the jumper, good luck Mick, at least you will be well off when you retire.

We will get better.

Bell, McInnes, Murphy, Carrazzo and Graham need to be in that side in the next few weeks.

Well, a goal here or there that we missed and we would have been in it.

We started playing wet weather football after half time and were a much more effective team. Before that, Sydney were in the right positions and had the better mindset.

Henderson was outstanding (one big error at the end aside), Cachia was great, and a number of players did quite well. Lucas.... hate to say it but I am off him until he shows some more class. He did a couple of good things but geez his gaffes are TERRIBLE. I know it wasnt a night for players with iffy disposal and maybe I am being too harsh on a bloke who has played the amount of games he has, but I want to see more from him. If he doesnt have a great string of games before the end of the season I will be questioning whether he is going to mature as a player enough to warrant selection.

The most frustrating thing about this game was the way we constantly kicked the ball to a turnover. In the last quarter it was terrible and it came from players like Simpson and Yarran who should know better. If you have time to look up and assess the kick, and STILL turn it over, I dont care what the weather is like, that's a fuckup. No excuse. Tonight, if they couldnt hit a teammate, it should be been a kick to space to get the ball on the deck into a contested situation.

I am looking forward to some better ball users coming into the team. I think that is what we lack overall (an effective and reliable forward line notwithstanding). I can't wait to see Menzel and Graham playing regularly.

Overall I give that effort a 7/10. Gotta do better to beat the Swans than a 7. Still reckon we are a good chance to beat the Pies and make finals too. Not that we will go anywhere when we make them, but at least you could say we improved on last year. As I have always said, 2014 is the year we should be looking forward to.

our midfield is not good enough

too many battlers who don't hurt you with their kicking

at least the effort has been there all year

Same type of game: not good enough, because the list is not good enough; we fight back, then we fall away.

Our players have such average to poor foot and hand skills in the dry, so it then follows we would be atrocious in the wet.

Cull the list please MM and start again.

I send my regards to Mr Hughes and Mr Rodgers.

Sydney got back on top of us in the last quarter though - we had expended a lot of energy just to get back into the match. I don't think it's right to say that we stopped purely as a result of Walker's miss.

Yeah nice try. I saw MM coaching specifically about wet weather football and guess what? The team played a shitload better after that.

Mick is an excellent coach. Now he just needs the right playing group. It will come.

I don't blame Malthouse for what hes working with. Its been years of poor list management and bad decisions thats meant hes got an average list to work with. He's doing the best with what hes got. I'm pretty sure there will be quite a few changes at the end of the year.
