A friend of mine works in banking. He told me that Ahmed was a strange CEO at NAB. He spent a lot of time in his office writing strategy papers and not much time running the company. Apparently his passion is forward planning and strategy.

Well all realise and acknowledge Sticks isn't the guy we need, there's 48 pages on this thread alone on the topic.

You would assume there are at least a few of intelligent, successful business people out there who see it. They may even be on the board.

Yet, we're stuck in a situation where Sticks is going to be President for another year because the only viable candidate to replace him doesn't have time.

..And how is that funny?

Don't discount Fahour.

While he doesn't have the numbers now who's to say that he won't in the coming months. He has very little board responsibilities at the moment as he is lightening the load there to make a tilt. He knows it is now for him.

He would be good. Turned Aus Post around from a letter business to a profitable parcel company.

Mathieson seems to be a bit of 'puppet master' with the board direction...

As for the current Prez - 'one more year' - may be a repeating mantra.

'One more year'....says the reluctant President....who has currently been a board member at Carlton for 5 years more than he was a footballer at Carlton. Other than being very successful at always backing the wrong horse but still staying on - he has very little to hang his hat on. When you're on a board - you know you're not going to be there forever. You should endeavor to leave the place in better shape than when you took your seat at the table. You should aim to leave a positive legacy.

What is Stephen Kernahan's legacy?

Funny in a sad, comical type way.

Makes sense to keep Sticks as Prez for our 150th year Celebrations.

I love our history as much as anyone - but the reality of it is that it's just another year. Same as year 149, same as year 151. This is a business. No successful business says 'Oh - but it's our 150th year..let's keep him on another year'.

Nah Doc, I won't be able to really celebrate the 150th unless Sticks is prez. Just doesn't feel right. I'd feel so empty

Hope he's got a big sponsor to announce. We're falling behind the other big Melbourne clubs in this regard. I have written a letter to Samsung. I hope this helps the Kernahan cause.

I meant in a Yes Minister meets Woody Allen kinda way.

But without the "having sex with your adopted daughter" bit.

The Aust Post thing makes me laugh - At present it is a monopoly I wonder how they'll go if that changes. I have a fair bit to do with Aust Post and have to say since he has been there Im far more inclined to deal with Singapore Post and have our products shipped direct from Singapore to our Australian customers.

Despite supporting the club and I do love the club this is why I also

flower HATE THE CLUB as most know

Look at Melbourne
[REDACTED] so they clean out the joint

and yet because of political bullshit we have to endure another year of a leader who is flower hopeless and continues to spiral the club backwards

one final in 11 years
ABOUT THE SAME AS MELBOURNE
Pagan
Ratten
terrible appointments
terrible payouts
terrible replacements
shambolic recruiting
shambolic coaching structures
shame
shame
and the one constant has been a board with Sticks and Pratts
shame on you sticks for not @#$%&! off ten years ago when it was Captain Obvious you were punching above your weight
Kennet, Costa left when they knew their time was up and had a planned successor ready to take over so their club wouldn't suffer and they achieved 110 times more than you and why because their smart blokes who put the club first and themselves second
Your the complete opposite

What would be a great way to celebrate 150 years in the business would be to piss off sticks and the Pratts once and for flower all

Christ this club shits me

Can we hire that Jackson cauliflower

If Sayers cannot commit as prez, then piss him off the board - he was bought on as part of the succession plan - now that has just about fallen on deaf ears, off the board please!!!! And some others, too so our board can be no more than 7.
We will not get anywhere near the top 4 with Sticks as prez!! That extra year sets us back, in reality 2 to 3 years, as the new prez needs time to leave his leadership imprint on the club.
It will be a continuation of jobs for the boys program!!!

Bringing AusPost into the digital era is his big ticket item.
