Being CEO of PWC is a pretty time consuming role. Happy to have Luke Sayers on the board though.

The problem I have, Sticks was handed the reigns from Richard Pratt, who by the time he came on board wasn't in shape to really drive the club. Sticks isn't qualified or able to drive the club as President, everyone knows that, everyone criticises him for it, but no one has put their hand up to oust him. If they did, they weren't prepared to have a tilt at it, be our Dark Knight and Kill Bambi. If they're not prepared to get their hands a little dirty and be unpopular with the masses for a while...are they the person we're really looking for?

Obviosuly there's been a diplomatic solution and behind the scenes we've convinced Sticks to hand over control to someone else at the end of next season, which is a good outcome, but where has everyone been for the last 5 years while Sticks at least had the courage to do the best he could.

Yes they are.

Challenging Sticks would be an unwise move for any prospective president, there would be significant disharmony and the new President would disenfranchise certain groups forever. We don't need that given where we've come from over past 10years.

It is much wiser to work within and have a peaceful transition as has been agreed.

Now all that needs to be determined is who the next President will be - next challenge thereafter is Jeanie's role

If the rest of the board are going to stand behind Sticks and not support someone who challenges him, then they all need to go as well. Surely there are enough people out there to repalce them.

The club is bigger than Sticks and the board in place.

Its probably too late now as the succession is happening, but if that spill of the board was needed 2-3 years ago then it should have happened.

One solution for those who want Kernahan replaced as President and to no longer be on the Board - vote him off. Problem solved. Exactly what happened with Smorgon, and it opened the door for Pratt to step on board.

For those who are this way inclined (not that there's anything wrong with it), I am guessing the best way is to tick all the other candidates, except Kernahan. We need everyone else to get more votes than Kernahan, which means not voting Kernahan AND voting the others.

Pratt was our White Knight.

None of the contenders prepared to be our Dark Knight.

The Dark Knight? Wrong animation hero Brad. Nobody wants to kill Kernabambi.

For the "put it in context people" - here you go further, how about a 5 year context and comparison to some of the local competitors.

• Membership revenue is up 4,018,359 - an increase of 81% over 5 years. In contrast, Essendons is up 30%, Collingwood will come in near 50% this year. Hawthorn oddly enough have just recoved from the 2009-10 slump. And forget the non vic sides, Adelaids memebership revenue is well below ours, about $2 million or so.

• Sponsorship revenue is up $5,092,155 - an increase of 69% over 5 years. In contrast Essendon* is up 30% (and ahead of us by about 3 million), Collingwood is up 40 odd % (and leading the competition at 22 million+). Hawthorns sponsorship has gone down 2 million (but still ahead of ours by 3 million)

• Revenue is up $20,803,535 - an increase of 81% over 5 years. Hawthorn is up 42%, Essendon* 51%, and Collingwood 10% over the same period.

• Our Asset base is up $24.8 million - an increase of 472% over 5 years. Hawthorn are up 150%, Geelong are up 300%.Essendon* is up around 90%, and Collingwood assets have been stable.

• Our net asset base has had a 17.3 million dollar turnaround. Same as Essendon*. Better than Hawthorn and Collingwood over the same time.

League leaders in these areas folks. The ship has been turned around, folks just dont want to see it.

Carlton's presidential succession plan has hit a significant hurdle, with the two high-profile directors recruited to the board last season now virtually no chance to replace Stephen Kernahan.

This news isn't new...it's been floating around for a while now. Bit of a nothing article and they haven't gone into any detail - and there is plenty of detail. They've written that Fahour wouldn't have the numbers...well...we'll see. I'm not convinced.

Cimm...you're in love with Sticks the footballer. I get it. You've obviously not seen the damage he's done as President. You've got to separate the two. Some people are incapable of that.

What numbers does fahour need - board or members?

No Doc, I have understood that Sticks is not the best guy for the job for some time. I have been really looking forward to having a fresh (and capable) face to take over. The change of leadership at Port is something I look at longingly.

So we got a board full of "liniment sniffers" as Glen Archer described them.

They just tip in the dough and sit on the board so they can impress their mates, family, flunkies and hangers on. But nobody wants the job or can't get the numbers.

The place reminds me of the worst kind of family business, but with two families sharing the business.

Oh dear. So we have potentially a would be president that doesn't have necessarily the numbers due to his style, and another, lets say 'preferred', candidate in Luke Sayers, but he doesn't have time to run with the job.

This is a case of Steven Bradbury where all the supposed best fall over and we're left with the least fancied!

This is the most important appointment on the board since George Harris.

Makes sense to keep Sticks as Prez for our 150th year Celebrations.

I love our history as much as anyone - but the reality of it is that it's just another year. Same as year 149, same as year 151. This is a business. No successful business says 'Oh - but it's our 150th year..let's keep him on another year'.

Well all realise and acknowledge Sticks isn't the guy we need, there's 48 pages on this thread alone on the topic.

You would assume there are at least a few of intelligent, successful business people out there who see it. They may even be on the board.

Yet, we're stuck in a situation where Sticks is going to be President for another year because the only viable candidate to replace him doesn't have time.
