The point is Malthouse called him a !@#$%& rapist and blatantly lied when he was caught out.
Not only did he deny it, he was emphatic in his denial. Along the line of "lets get this straight right now, I didnt speak to him at all"
Even when it was blatantly obvious, he still tried to lie his way out of it.
I find incidents like the above unpalatable and they suggest a serious character flaw.
I find it hard to respect people who dont take responsibility for their actions.
If that makes me a negative poster, so be it.
I can understand your stance BV but really if you look at his time at Collingwood (West Coast as well) and the way the players played for him before and after this incident he is a master of galvanising the playing group. He does this over long periods of time during his coaching tenure. You see it as a character flaw but perhaps you need to just put it aside, players play for him and I see nothing to suggest that it won't happen at Carlton.
This what we all want.
Sums it up for me too Woof. I place great store on, (sadly), old fashioned qualities such as honour and integrity.
But !
Firstly we're paying this guy to coach and although I think he needs at least two seasons before judgement, I'm already happy with the signs I'm seeing.
As far as the lying is concerned, the vehemence of his, (false), denial wasn't great. Unless though you've been under that sort of sustained scrutiny,
(and I certainly haven't), I think it would hard to understand. Anyone put under enough pressure will start saying silly things just to try and relieve that
pressure.
