The decision is correct and highlights why a rigid system like the MRP hasn't worked. If a player during a play has committed himself to attack the ball within scope and with the force allowed by the games rules, and as a result is faced with 2 choices, either running into a player at full impact or as a result of avoiding that full impact running another player at a reduced impact. Has he fulfilled his obligation and taken the option that is least reckless/negligent?. Clearly he has. The jumper colors aren't relevant, his duty is to show care. The only thing that he could have changed was his initial attack/momentum at the contest, that's a separate issue for the rules committee.

I reckon I have no idea what the hell is guilty and what isn't.

If people feel dudded I would remind them that quite a few clubs have believed the MRP and or the tribunal have got it wrong.

Last night Mike Sheehan said that if it had been Zeibell it would have been three weeks and that even the initial MRP finding was too light.
Tonight Gerard Whateley said it was clear he was not guilty.

I would not have thought either of those two guys have anti or pro Carlton bias and yet they are at different ends of the scale.

Just need to be sure that when opportunities to harm opponents present themselves in games, that we take them.

So do I.
TBH I don't really give a flower....zero impact on us. If anything, Hawks do us a favour if they knock off the Eagles. Easier with Hodge.

Cimm the reason you feel like that, as many supporters do, is because some previous decisions haven't been as well adjudicated as they should have been.

Maybe.

But I think 50% of "experts" thought Hodge had a case to answer.

I don't know if he's guilty, when it happened in the game I didn't think much of it, it wasn't until Lethal started going on about it that I even gave it a second look.

I honestly couldn't give a toss and I think a lot of the heartache is because we lost the game and Murph has a busted face.

If we'd won and Murph hadn't been hurt this would hardly even be a discussion.

Not so sure. Hope Worsfold gets his troops up. The eagles don't mind a stoush if they are in the mood!

If they lose and just happen to lay out a couple of the Hawks big guns I'll be happy.

Better for us if they win this week (so they'll probably lose)

see...we can justify anything.... I hope the hawks win and we come out and some Carlton players just kills some other player - especially a small player...that would be really great...ballsy even...they'd be playing football as its always been played...you know..the stupid big flower taking out the smaller guy. Lie Bob Skilton...just take him out...that's football.

Hodge is as weak as piss and he isn't and that, as with all braver acts...is the wonderful paradox of the manly;y strutting wee can being physical.

Hey wouldn't it be great if Robbo pole axed someone and they ended up a cripple..wouldn't that just be great!

Would have loved him to pole axe one of those umpires during the last quarter last Friday ..... It would have been fair ..... a one armed man vs a blind man

In the first hearing he was deemed to have run past the football to hit Henderson.
In the replay, he was attacking the football.

Come on you guys!

So let me get this right. Tribunal chook lotto reflects on our club?

:garthp:

NBH let me explain.
If we are a powerful club people will respect and listen. We need to grow a pair.
If we remonstrate on and off field we bring attention and debate to any situation.
If that had been the case at any of the powerful clubs the media coverage would have been more scrutinized and dissected and an outcry of how a player was injured.
I don’t mind Malthouse pointing out umpiring howlers or indiscretions because in the not too distant future they will be second guesses to our advantage.
What we need is the CEO or the presidents to take offence to the decisions publically and technically just like Kennett or Maguire and force either the coach’s hand or the playing group into action (embarrass them).
That will also bring attention to the !@#$% AFL that we aren’t going to lie down and take it anymore.
If nothing changes then it’s time to force change.

Smaller players are usually the running machine playmakers.

Makes sense.

Take a look who has been targeted for special attention in or side.

Agree.

So which of the other Presidents want to work with Sticks?
