Sad fact is we will probably have to have our snouts in the trough for early draft picks for a couple of years along with the likes of Hawthorn and Collingwood while we rebuild....so finals to me are a long way off....
How long do we have to keep doing this for?????
Its already been four years.....!!!!!

WC have had a 11 year turn around to play in a GF...and thats been a good effort considering there are sixteen teams....11-4 =7 years...based on the WC model....

The system.....doesnt allow for enterprise...unless you make your own ie tanking....WC probably had a plan of sorts as well...we dont seem to have one...cant even work out who to trade or who to keep....

not saying we are gonna win a flag in 06. far from it. but geez, surely you want to be competitive and winning as soon as possible. i was all for ensuring the PP and #1 this year, cos the year was a write off. just hope we're not going to start writing off seasons before they even begin. look if we get to round 14 or 15 next year and we've only won 3 games, then yep go for picks again. but for god's sake don't hope that we get to round 15 and have only won 3 games. i'm really not into self-inflicted pain. besides i haven't seen the loading up of early draft picks deliver a premiership yet. i'm not completely sold that its the way to go. st. kilda is the model of early draft picks. they're a great team of talent, but so far they've won sweet FA. early picks give you a a bigger choice of the talent pool. not worth a pinch of sh!t if the wrong players are selected. or you have a coach that doesn't know how to use the talent

The only thing that interests me is when will we next be a premiership contender :?:

Considering we have to build our list with 18 year olds, I'll give the earliest date is seven years from now - season 2012 :!:

That's if we draft excellently, I believe players are now staying for lesser money at their original club, doubt we'll get any established stars through the pre season draft in the future.

One of the factors to consider is that the rules regarding priority picks may well change over summer, in which case tanking talk is probably going to be redundant.

Considering we had a good run with injuries in 2005 and still finished last, I'm not getting my hopes up. Reality says we'll finish no higher than 14th.

Yep - it's the where will we finish one.

And I still think we'll finish last - or bloody close to it

We'll finish dead last.
Until our younger players either have some solid leadership or take the reins themselves we're going to be struggling on-field.
Nobody wants to come and play for us, and the senior players we have are worried more about their bank balance than their onfield exploits.

We could finish 16th but do we want another spoon! NO
Do we want another godd draft pick? YES
14th hear we come!, Hawthorn for 16th and Collingwood 15th

We are 1-151 for the premiership last time i checked!.... Everyone jump on the Carlton bandwagon. Itll only cost ya 1 dollar

Flag.

Undefeated.

Just to set a new benchmark, last to first in a year.

Cancereale for Brownlow.

Whitnall for Norm Smith.

Shit, I think I'm still under the influence of the anaesthetic!
