Still burning about the umpiring - critical decisions that resulted in goals. Game changers.
Where did Mark Evans used to work?
Kicking on goal - critical shots that needed to be kicked. Think the boys were cooked though or was it the moment. Army hasn't kicked that bad for a set shot for some time. Curnow, great game but no confidence when he had that kick. Tuohy kicks most goals on the run but missed a couple of times when needed.
Critical fumbles when it mattered...unfort the game came down to our inability to win when the game was there to be won. Maybe fitness a concern but getting better if we can make finals.
More impressed with the team, and think MM has already changed our competitiveness but we're short on that bit of class when it matters.
Gibbs, Curnow, Judd, Simmo (welcome back), Cachia the picks.
Rowe not bad with some clunks. MM'S preferred fwd set up with 3 talls. Lucas some good things but again some moments to learn from, hopefully he does. Sliding doors from last week, would have been perfect for Yazz last week.

Just an observation on Simmo after half time, his direction to team mates and his example was pretty darn impressive. almost as if he lifted a notch with the captaincy

Great game of footy. Thought we played really well, while the Hawks weren't their usual standard. And yet we still fell a bit short, which is a fair indication of where we are at.

Can't fault the endeavour though...the boys didn't leave anything out there, just struggled up forward after half time. Do we have a bit of an unhealthy over reliance on our small fwds Betts & Garlett?

Thought Simmo was terrific.

Amazing game when you realise that we got basically zip from our forwards in

Waite
Jeffy
Rowe
Casbolt

Extremely disappointed by the poor body work and distinct lack of any physical impact/presence from Rowe and Casbolt. The amount of times they couldn't even 1/2 a contest was one of the reason we got rolled in the end. Jeffy has been a star all year but tonight he was MIA.

In the end the class prevailed and the clutch moments were missed by the Carlton forwards.

Not sure CK.

I think the Hawks came out strong and confident and tried to roll right over the top of us. Giving up 3 quick goals and then having the composure to hold and then score was something we haven't done for a looooooooooooooong time.

We pushed back and exposed more than a few weaknesses. I reckon they might just have realised they are someway off being the flag faves.

Umpiring 3rd quarter tonight onwards was @#$%&! crap. Just rubbish. The deliberate against us in the last about 2 minutes after a Hawks player did the same thing just topped it off.

Gibbs and Simmo were great.

Garlett was awful

Goal kicking is still suspect but not as bad as other games.

We got tired in the third.

Probably the best game we've played all year. Poos and wees were seriously rattled.

Hawks are a bunch of cauliflower on and off field. SO many shit blokes.

Okay 1st half but watch his 2nd half in particular when in 3 or 4 aerial contest in a row he couldn't get his hands on the ball and it was rushed away. According to the Radio he had 8 possession to half time then none thereafter.

He is a work in progress but tonight he needed to 1/2 the contest to create something for Jeff and Eddie.

the difference in quality between the first and second half was too great. Lake took too many marks after half time

Although, I do like what I have seen in the last few games and we must persist with him for the rest of the year

Was against three in a lot of those situations. Stratton/Lake/Gibson crowded him and we still kicked it to him.

It will take more than moving Henderson up forward to turn that potentially into a premiership winning forward line. It can be done but it won't be easy.

We seem to struggle to create space in our forward line.

Our forwards struggle to create it through hard work on the overlap, and the fact there's usually an opposition plus one doesn't help either. I suppose it's just as much an issue of how we direct our entries opposed to our forward set up. Way too much ball going to the boundary.

And Malthouse looked absolutely ropeable in the press conference after the game. Love that.

He's a wanker to the journos. Not that I have a problem with that.

That's what happens when your key leads there most of the time.

over and OUT!

havent questioned MM once, whatsoever, until NOW!!!!!!!!!

Yarran dropped for body language - cmon MM it's 2013 - like giving a naughty student the cane, he'll learn NOTHING!!!!!!!

Laidler Duigs - been in best last 3 or 4 weeks in the Northern's, but Bootsma, Cachia, Rowe, Curnow are regulars......???????????????

Menzel & Buckley??????????? - Teased with a couple of quarters each (menzel v GWS doesnt count) showed some serious magic then dropped hard.

Hampson - MUST PERSIST - rucks/talls ALWAYS take YEARS to emerge - Hammer will be a gun in 2-3 (and god will it hurt when he smashes us while playing for Collingwood or Bummers)

Waites body language!! - if Yarran's body language says 'shit' then Waites has been saying 'get !@#$%& flower' for years..............
(dont see him getting dropped)

And FFS when will you even !@#$%& TRY Hendo up fwd for more THAN A PISSWEAK 45 minutes of footy????????????

Can anyone in our side kick over 50m with a set shot kicking for goal?

Touhy - loving his progress - but he's gotta realise when you turn to see who's on your tail or next to you - then you're gonna get pressure - have a bloody shot from 60 and leave someone 6ft 3 plus in the square ALWAYS.....

and where's the brilliant drop-of-the-pack front and centre crumbing mosquito goals that were coming thick & fast in the first 8 rounds??????

well MM??????? where are they??????
seems youve changed things up a bit and we're just not using that as a means to goal anymore...........

literally cant put myself through this every week

i reckon my devotion and passion and interest took a 25% reductive hit tonight..............

You were going well until you mentioned Cachia and Curnow not being worthy, Hampson being worthy, and questioned MM trying to instil some discipline. Crap post really.

They're leading to the only space available in the 50.

Need to devise a structure that allows the occasional open area in the hot spot.

God knows we see it happen against us enough.
