Agree with sentiments about loss to Essendon* and only way to erase loss is to beat bloody hawthorn but alas I fear that they will intimidate us as usual we will shit ourselves for a quarter and the game will be gone

For gods sake do something :banghead: when was the last time we beat a good team- 2011 maybe - the mental fragility of this team is just ridiculous

Given the Hawks are considered to be one of the flag faves and we (even in our wildest dreams) are probably a there or thereabouts team, I wouldn't think a loss to the Hawks would automatically imply mental weakness.

What about the fact that we havent beaten them since 2005 -does that connote mental weakness - did last week connote mental weakness - does the last 5 years connote mental weakness
Yes a loss to them doesnt in itself connote mental weakness but in the context of any performance this year against a decent team -a dreadful loss last week and not beating them for 8 years - anything less than a win will

Doesn't help that we've been rather insipid as a team for that entire time, whereas Hawthorn became the accidental Premier but has largely been a powerhouse of talent and mindset of the like we can only dream about.

Yes agree they have been a much better side BUT to not beat a team for 8 years is pathetic despite being ordinary it is even worse when you considerwe have played finals in the last 3 out of 4 years - richmond for example have beaten them in the last few years so have north - both over the journey have been bad or as bad as us

The White miss tackle was embarrasing and something we should not tolerate. Will be interesting to see how Malthouse addresses this at the selection table.

Maybe time to give Watson a run.

I'm sure Watson will get another go after the NAB Cup debacle. I hope it's not this week though. He hasn't played a lot of senior games. But he's played Collingwood twice. If we want him to succeed, not sure it's the best idea to bring him in to play on Roughead.

Watching the analysis from King and Johnson, it's hard to see how Garlett missed the player over the top who had run into space; enough space that it would be an easy mark/kick had he seen him. To make it worse Garlett kicked to a two on one.

Also the rotten luck in the ball not sitting up for Murphy...made his kick forward be under pressure instead of staying ahead of Kommer; although it wasn't Walker's best kick.

I'm still haunted by the loss. I haven't read any news papers, listened to or watched any football related programs. Every time I think about it, I want to throw up.

David King gives me the irrits.

He said the Bombers showed courage to change their play and go through the guts.

Bloody hell, they were 5 goals down. Of course, they had to change something, moron.

I'm still stewing over that loss. I haven't felt this bad after a defeat since Fev missed that shot to beat the Hawks some years ago. Christ, I wish sometimes this game and this team didn't mean so much to me. Nothing I can do about it though, born Carlton and I'll die Carlton, same as the previous generation, same for the next. It just about brought a tear to my eye recently when the 4yo grandson was asked who he barracked for and he replied without hesitation "the Blues".

I can't help but feel that if Eddie hadn't been rubbed out against the Saints we would have beaten the Lab Rats.

Eddie comes straight back in, performs poorly as I feared he might after a month between games (barely played all year for that matter). Chris cracks it when he has to wear the green vest, hardly gets a touch when he finally does come on. And we still only lose by 5 points. Then there was the loss to Saints with Waite suspended. All gets back to discipline.

Then there's team selection. We are all experts in hindsight, but three ruckman in the same side? Chris the sub? Eddie straight back in? There may well be more to all this than us ordinary supporters know, but on the surface hard to fathom. Two losses that shouldn't have happened.
