Bell in for me. A player who doesn't mind turning his body and giving a good old hip and shoulder (legal of course as he wouldn't lift his feet off the ground). Runs through a pack- not around it.

Toughness is needed against Hawthorn. Not wallflowers. Hawthorn are too tough and streets ahead of Carlton even with Bell in and Bootsma, but players with a bit of grunt and courage are needed. Both fit the bill.

In: Bootsma and Bell
Out:

Bell isn't eligible, maybe people missed that memo?

No good anyway.

EVERYONE STOP SUGGESTING BELL COMES IN!!

He was put back onto rookie list when Andy Mac came off LTI list last week. Bell is now ineligible to play until we get another LTI or we upgrade him after the bye!

Also, Nick Graham just tweeted he is playing VFL this week. Unfortunately, that means Cachia can't play anymore either as he was Graham's replacement. Better hope Carrots makes a miraculous recovery.

They always stretch us with Roughead, Buddy, Hale, Gunston as marking targets. Always.
I know Waite and Bower did well on Buddy, but the others get us.

Gotta stop supply and bottle them up.

Our strength is speed.

If Warnock could belt the ball to open spaces past their inside players that may work...Nic Nat style.

I really liked the work Curnow and Cachia did. But I'd like to see us a bit more attacking in the midfield. Can't have all tags when Murphy and Judd aren't in there.

I don't think our defensive unit needs to change.

Midfield is where we need the lift, 4qtr runners. Problem is we don't have any.

As someone mentioned before is Graham coming back to VFL mean that Cachia is gone back to rookie list, or does that "after round 11 thingy" happen?

Curnow is our nominated rookie after round 11.

Yes, you can but it will be out of Cachia and Bell. I think Cachia is ahead at this stage.

I spoke to Bell outside Visy Park today. Lovely bloke too.

Said he was fairly happy with his game on the weekend and hoped to play this week. No mention of being Ineligible, not that I thought to ask.

Someone, who I think was Luke Mitchell, was wearing a moon boot and looked very sore.

May have been McCarthy now I think of it. Not sure.

"Tom Bell was best afield for the Blues with 25 disposals and seven clearances." - last week.
Had 15 possessions, 2 goals against port, had 16 possessions against Brisbane 4 tackles.
Weighs 96 kilos, and is 187 cms tall and can run like the wind and bursts through packs.

No probs.keep him on the rookie list. It doesn't really worry me either way.

All we know is that you know best Cimma 79..You know best after all. I will go to you in future for all knowledge on team selections as you are such a wise sage and we have an oversupply of 96 kilo/187 running tackling players with intent.

But back onto Bell - "The Bull" - the rookie...ha.

“He’s a strong boy, he loves the contest and he’s got a big tank. He always finishes in the top three or four in our time trials around the park. He loves the contest.” – Carlton Assistant Coach John Barker.

STATS THAT MATTER
Averaged eight contested possessions for the year (last year); was accredited with six clearances in the round 19 match against the eventual premiers Sydney.

Another one I like is Menzel. He should be in for consideration too.

Either way - Carlton are not a real contender. They are up against one of the 4 contenders for the flag this week and the next contest. Will be a tough ask. Listening to Kieran Jack on OTC you realise what real intent to win is all about. Team ethos through and through. What a team those Swannies are, and then the Hawks and Cats are just as disciplined. Should be a good grand final this year.

After losing all those games we should have won (putting us top 3 on the ladder), I reckon we'll lose the plot and the Hawks will ream us big time. Etihad seals the deal too.

Hawks by 48, but the week after will be even worse :yikes:
