I do not think we should be listening to Synbad.
Lets observe his thoughts at the start of the 2003 season, and see how many of them turned out to be correct.

Rohan Connelly said on 3aw today, he couldnt see any obvious future carlton champs from our lot of kids. That all teams have some standout kids except us...
When somebody called and pressed him about Essendons he stammered Ramanauskas, whos nearly 23 *LOL*
Anyway im glad theyre not putting pressure on our kids, i can see about 14 or so doing very well.
Id love to see more of Beasy in the firsts, in the Molloy mode, he needs the development towards that kind of player for us.

Umm synbad, who were those "14" guns?

If you mean players of 18 0r 19 years old playing kp backmen then yes thorton and livo really are those types but if you merely look at a midfielder raking up possessions when he is in a very good side then no we havent.
Agree if you say 23 year olds are young then we should include fev houlihan.

That's the problem with Eddie calling Pies matches, the rest feel they need to suck up to the boss. Last year Lyon was more supportive of us, bet a few stern words from Eddie took care of that. Even simple things last night like two players seeing a ball over the boundary, Eddie had to say that the Collingwood player was being held but the ball will be thrown back in. He is so fake when calling a Carlton play with any excitement. Honestly they are the three stooges and getting worse fast. You can have the rights and you can have the prime time slots (except in Qld and NSW) but that doesn't automatically make them the three best commentators in the game.

Got home in time to watch the last quarter. Eddie sounded very nervous to me. Oh and the repeated shots of the wearer of Bernard Kings jacket was sickening. But Gary Lyons "I wanted to put Fevola in' re the best players was a cop out (His tone suggested that there was pressure implied). If Fev was good enough then put him in. Eddie SHOULD not call Collingwood games. Unless they lose

Agree it is a shocker but to be honest, I think Lyon does give us some credit, although it seems to be an apologetic tones, probably getting a filthy look from Eddie while he talks. Dermie is a dipstick.

Listened to some of the game on radio last night and heard Parkin slip in a 'we' at one stage. Is that biased? Also SOS has done the same thing.

Nine's camerawork was absolutely awful, too - several times they completely lost the player with the ball from trying too many fancy-arse angles. At least they don't bombard you wioth ads after EVERY goal like Channel 10. Ten has better coverage but less respect for the unwritten code that you don't go to an ad if a goal is kicked within half a minute of the previous one

I agree with commentators sucking up to Eddie while he's there. He definitely shouldn't call Collingwood games. Its terrible.

Gary Lyon is alright, if a little dopy. While i didn't see the game on tv, hes generally not anti-Carlton. I can remember back in 2000 when we were unstoppable, he said during a sellout at Optus Oval against the Roos, that if he could come back as a player it would be here at Carlton with the support they get at Optus (obvously only when they're playing well tho). Basically because our form has been so woeful its going to take some better performances, and time to get some respect back from media commentators. Rohan Connolly used to love us too. Unfortunately I don't see those improved performances and respect returning any time soon.

The major problem with Eddie calling Pies' games is that he can't hide excitment and dissapointment. Did anyone else notice the tone in his voice towards the end of the game - and also everytime Tarrant had a kick.
That is besides Lyon and the rest sucking up to him.

Lyon hates Carlton, I still remember the game he called v Demons last year when Kouta came back. Bagged Carlton all day and had a go about bringing back Kouta and dropped various smart arse comments. Eddie and Lyon give me the shits when they commentate games together, its like watched the Footy show.

i think nobody has been more critical of the CFC in the past 12 months than Gerald, he is a goose. He never has anything positive to say about us anymore, and continually holds up StKilda as the model of onfield excellence for teams at the bottom wanting to improve.

but synbad, isn't that the model we should be following now? The "stkilda model". wouldn't that make you the "goose". :-D
oh dear, I've lost the link. you'll deny you said it though, you'll say you knew all along we should follow that model. coz you're synbad, football intellect! oh wait, I've found it, can't deny it now can we?

Rohan Connelly said on 3aw today, he couldnt see any obvious future carlton champs from our lot of kids. That all teams have some standout kids except us...
When somebody called and pressed him about Essendons he stammered Ramanauskas, whos nearly 23 *LOL*
Anyway im glad theyre not putting pressure on our kids, i can see about 14 or so doing very well.
Id love to see more of Beasy in the firsts, in the Molloy mode, he needs the development towards that kind of player for us.

Umm synbad, who were those "14" guns?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you mean players of 18 0r 19 years old playing kp backmen then yes thorton and livo really are those types but if you merely look at a midfielder raking up possessions when he is in a very good side then no we havent.
Agree if you say 23 year olds are young then we should include fev houlihan.

so you thought we'd be playing finals in 2003 Synbad, well then you are a
true Carlton supporter. :-D
So Synbad, what is the difference, please tell me, between you saying we could make the finals then, and other suggesting we might be a chance nect year?
I'd love to hear your reasoning, but I expect you will dodge the question and the harsh reality that you lack common football knowledge. You see in others what you got wrong all those years ago, and hence you bag them. It's self-hatred, and if I were you, I wouldn't blame myself. :-D

disapointed i couldnt get to game but !!! - the commentry on tv for the game was bloody awfull, gary lyon is so against the blues it's not funny, he gave no creedence to the way we played or put in for the whole match, he consistantly complimented the pies but very little for us, at least eddie was suppotive of the way we went, as for dermie, well once a wanker always a wanker, that bloody lyon didn't even give one of our guys a vote, what an absolute joke, he is pathetic

oh dear, I've lost the link. you'll deny you said it though, you'll say you knew all along we should follow that model. coz you're synbad, football intellect! oh wait, I've found it, can't deny it now can we?
http://www.theblueview.org/phpboard/vie ... ght=#22391

Now Synbad, I want you to be calm. Calm I say
Ok, now that you are calm
I want you to write
after me
Carlton
will
be
on
the
bottom
for
the
next
five
years.
NOw you understand, that by writing that, Carlton are "condemned" to five top f our finishes most likely. Because you're synbad, and you get things wrong. "soothsayer", how ironic. :-D
Calm Synners, calm.

MCB.. i believe Stkilda is a shit team... im on the Carlton/ North Melbourne band wagon..

I wrote that when i tried to be insightful... but now i know better...

Thanks for reminding me about my past stupidity..

Im now reformed...

fair enough. I don't really care that you made mistakes, everyone does. But why do you need to slam others for having similar views to that of two years ago?

Synners you have gone a wee bit loopy over the last day or 2. You were the most fervent 'foaming at the mouth' advocate of getting rid of lance a couple of days ago and now I assume from your rhetoric that your firbrand admonishment has turned into a kind of thick sarcasm. What has prompted your change of tack, is there something you are not telling us??

Is this a product of your noted disgust at the perceived 'back-down' on lance's contract?

I have also noted your sarcasm in relation to Fev. 2 days ago he was a champion etc and now you are sarcastically calling him a head case (not that I disagree at all).

I am wondering if something has happened to change your approach?

Failing all of that, take your meds!!!

The only thing that interests me is when will we next be a premiership contender :?:

Considering we have to build our list with 18 year olds, I'll give the earliest date is seven years from now - season 2012 :!:

That's if we draft excellently, I believe players are now staying for lesser money at their original club, doubt we'll get any established stars through the pre season draft in the future.

Yes players are staying at their clubs for less money.. thats why we can thank our lucky stars we have Lance and Co...

WE DONT WANT MERCENARIES!!!!!

I wanted to make sure everyone knew who i was talking to and why....

It was a refernce point...

And i am just reinventing myself so i can fit into TC for the mods ....

I think they like insightful people who do not argue but state their point clearly and concisey.. with much imagination.. and respect their environment....

I think im complying...
