It's 4.30am here and can't sleep. Still trying to fathom how we let that slip.

Can't put in words how furious I am. The fact that we lost, the way we lost and who we lost to. Heartbreaking.

I think the thing that hurts the most though is finally having to accept that we have no hope of winning a flag with this playing group. You hope bringing MM in will help and the 'process' will address our shortcomings however on exposed evidence our mental shortcomings and lack of on field leadership even he can't fix.

He was brought here for success. Not to be a middling team that may not even make the finals. Makes you wonder now why we bothered. Invested a lot of money for a rebuild.

We will ultimately look back on the Judd era as a waste. That is soul destroying for me.

We can look at the missed shots on goal but Essendon* missed plenty as well.

We can blame the Garlett non goal decision however Essendon* should have been given a free kick in front of goal late in the third (Walker over the shoulder).

What galls me is how they finished stronger than us - a bit like the Collingwood match.

When Waite stopped kicking goals there was no Plan B - it reminded me of the days we used to rely on Fev.

We blew another close game

Should have beaten Essendon* last night and Collingwood earlier this year. On both occasions we did not run hard enough when it really counted.

Our efforts this year have been good, however, we still have that losing mentality that we can't seem to shrug off.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves because we are still a middle of the road team. Frustrating as it is, hopefully these sort of losses lay the foundation for a serious tilt in a few years time.

Need to greatly improve our forward line efficiency as we don't get rewarded for our forward 50 entries. If only we had another Henderson. I still believe he needs to be forward in the long run as Waite won't be there for our next premiership tilt.

Eddie was awful last night. He should have been the sub. Our use of the sub this year has been ordinary.

Good presser from Mick.

Is Cachia eligible for the rising star?

Semi against WC
Against Geelong when Warnock missed
Semi against Sydney
This game

you forgot the semi against Brions

Warnock v Geelong at Etihad

Hawthorn twice at the G (Dixon, Fev)

Kernahan corner

Neil Daniher 3 goals in time on

Besides Richmond last year I think the last close game we won was the 1999 prelim

I thought Gibbs was fine last night, plenty of others need to lift more than him.

Lets not forget that the scum have been doing drugs and are no doubt still benefitting from them.

The last kick into the F50 and the lack of players (ie absolutely no one) going for the mark pissed me off no end. We are our own worse enemies when it comes to holding a lead.

you have no idea
Gibbs wasnt fine
he craps himself when he gets the ball consequently he turns it over too much
his kicking is shit for an AFL footballer
over rated
rather than give a response which involves some pathetic personal attack give all of us one game in Gibbs' long career where he has actually been influential in a big game. otherwise dont bother replying.

The Lucas bashing on this site is mindless. I wonder if anyone watches the game live anymore - thank god the match committee does and doesnt make its decisions based on TC drivel.

Let me start by saying I agree that his kicking is average, his decision making is average and he is softer than we would like. And in hindsight not really worth a top 10 pick.

However, the reason he gets a game every week and will continue to get a game is that he plays a role in the team structure that no-one else does. He is the hard running outlet that the backline looks for, the link between the backs and forwards. What Simmo used to do before age started to catch up with him. And he does that role very well.

Watch a game and see the distance he covers at pace - who else has both the tank and speed? Walker, Jeffy and Armfield but they all have other roles.

So it would be better if his weaknesses weren't there, they probably wont improve much going forward either, but until we have an alternative who does what he does better, he stays in the team.

good post and sensible

Although, that goal miss was an absolute shocker

Believe it or not he does have some good attributes. He has improved this year but I still have my doubts about whether he can stand up when the pressure is really on. Not sure whether he can ever get that "softness" out of his game. I suppose Campo played over 200 games and he was a bit soft.

and we wwill continue to have yet another weak link who cant play pressure cooker games

hes weak... and hes crap... listen carefully... not because he missed that goal.. but for a whole myriad of other things he doesnt have.

id sooner have a 65 kilo kenyan/ ethiopian in the side...he wont be abe to kick... did you see the lucas attempt inside 50?
did you see his feeble attempts to contest an aerial?
his weak physicality.

sometimes running isnt everything.....

Run Forest run....

there are reasons why we lose games like this....
