Glad is wasn't a shootout.

We still are not tough enough when it counts. They wore our punches then smashed us when we were done banging our head against a brickwall. Old tactic performed well.

Going to be a tough few months.

Bryce was good in the middle

Most clearances of any player on the ground.

He played ok but we didn't win. 5 games in the middle 1 win against GWS. Similar to last year when he played onball.
I know where we get better value and the stats will back that up.

I thought Kreuzer was immense inside the contests tonight. Essendon* would have won a lot more clean ball without him throwing himself around. And people would trade that for a handful of better tap-outs? :donk:

People don't see that.

Share these immense contests? Ie the ones when the heat was really on?

I have banged on about Kreuzer for a while now and again was disappointing in a big game. Simply does not do enough, especially when it really counts. Clearly the most overrated player on this site.

Unfortunately the pick was a mistake. The game has passed him by in his short career.

Did not watch or listen to game. Banned myself from doing so but followed TC forum. Always a concern when you lead by 5 goals in a low scoring game and get rolled. As the old saying goes never give a sucker and even chance. From the sounds of it we should have put them away when we had the chance. The question is now why didn't we or why couldn't we. Can't blame the coaching for this. Solely rests on the players. We are coming from a fair way back. MM will find out who can handle the heat and who can't. I always believed this was a honeymoon season. If we make the 8 good and if we don't I won't be surprised. There will be changes to the playing list at the end of the year. I don't know which players will be moved on or traded but I predict a few surprises. Shit I hate losing to those pricks.

We need a mini rebuild....!!!

There is no !@#$%& way we wont cut deep....!!!...

Millions were spent changing the coaching staff on the premise that he would get results

Now people are changing their minds about what MM is here for.

Wasn't the whole point of a new coach to give them some spine? Now we just choke. Lot of money just to miss finals again

If you can't see improvement in game plan, structure and intensity which has led to 5 narrow losses you are blind. Just quietly the coach doesn't have a young Judd and fev at his disposal

They still can't stamp themselves on the competition

What do you mean improvement in game plan? You mean reverting to a Ratten game style?

Big $$$ were spent to get us results.

It's a defensive gameplan which is why we are conceding less per game. Ratten had no concept of defense

In 2011 when Ratten wasn't decimated by injuries the team on average conceded 79 points per game. Under Malthouse so far Carlton are conceding 85 points per game. Obviously a smaller sample and other factors at play, but it is garbage to suggest Ratten had no concept of defence.

I am no fan of Ratten but assess WHY the club spent all the money to get MM...it was to get results.

If the club needed a rebuild why would they spend mega bucks getting MM?

I reckon 10 Synbad. Nine If Watson can show something before the year is out. Can't believe how disappointing Mitchell and Mcarthy have been.

100% agree.

Somw people here used to focus on pros back in 2002-2007, talking up players like Livingston et al.

When are these people going to face REALITY?!

Lame. Angry.
Shots on goal. Dominance over most of the match unrewarded.
White normally a good shot on goal.
Another one that got away...

Hendo curnow Simpson were excellent
Kreuzer was really poor. Hands straight above head is not a marking technique
Yarran has lost two games for us this year due to a lack of intensity
Robo disappointing
We need to structure up with another forward option
Waite outstanding
DonT let the emotion obscure the fact we are not far off it

How much time do we have? :? Can we ask the other clubs to politely stand still?

Great comment. That was it in a nutshell.

It reflects how we chose to deliver it into the forward 50. With a great deal of hesitation and poorly executed kicks to packs.

Do we train these kinds of drills to generate some match sense? What about how we spread from a contest? You watch Essendon*, Geelong, West Coast and just about every other team buy space by working with each other, while we seem to try to run over the top of each other. Watched Walker fail to shepherd on multiple occasions.

Yes we do it sometimes, but I would say we are the poorest club at it in the league, save for perhaps Melbourne. We play supremely dumb football, and no amount of head kicking has changed that in close to a decade.

The loss didn't hurt me, the umpire review did. They call for reviews for everything, but not tonight.

It's [REDACTED], the AFL are [REDACTED], the slide rule is [REDACTED], they have finally cost my team a game due to there incompetence.

we cost ourselves.. the umpires didnt cost us.... i mean technically they may have given us an extra 4 points... but you dont make the finals on 4 points u get when u cant steel yourself.

The Hawks do this sh1t with the Cats all the time. Feels crap.

Both teams tonight looked ordinary even before the game turned.
We were good at times while still managing to be bad. The idea is to score when dominating. If you aren't then you are not playing well.

Outcoached in the end (plus they have been juiced up which could be part of the outcoaching if they get away with it).

Thought the umpires had a reasonable game... can't deflect our ineptitude on them tonight

here is 11 games into a 3 season contract and we have been in every game with 5 min to go with a squad that lost to the gold coast and port last year.

what the hell do people expect? 11 and zip?

ill happily give him another 12months molding the squad and even then is probably too soon to expect us to be a top 4 side.
