The rules change.

When we beat teams in the 8 like Port it no longers counts when they drop out.
When we beat teams they were not in the 8, but now are / were it does not count. See Crows and Eagles, both in the 8 prior to this round, but no longer.
If we beat a team in the 8, and they are still in the 8, well then they are shite and this doesn't really count. This will be what happens if we beat the Pies / Dons.

   And when I asked in an earlier post why supporters are fickle Synbad told me it wasn't the supporters who were fickle it was the players.

Can this post be incorporated into the TC POSTING RULES thread so everyone can follow the guidelines and so avoid further confusion.

yeah good call cimm, and thanks SA Blue for laying it out so concisely.

I was having a lot of difficulty understanding exactly all the different ways we are shit and that every win means nothing/is not impressive enough.

Having that guide is a great help, I'll be able to go on much longer and more vitriolic rants now.

Yeah, and how shit are Hawthorn?!!

Haven't beaten a team above them on the ladder yet and lost to a team placed below them!

Yes, looking forward to Keogh's "50 Shades of Shit" , it covers everything apparently.

Have we established a respectable margin of victory this week?

I was so grateful for the point of reference we received after the Giants match which proved how pathetically flaccid our 94 point margin was, considering 'everyone" beat the Giants by "well over 100 points".

So I've had a look at Essendon*'s losing margins this year; they have been 28, 10 and 44 points. I am guessing that anything less than 90 points would mean that we haven't really beaten them? Or do we need to beat them by 100 for it to be a good win? Or does it not count as a win at all, since if we beat them by that sort of margin they'll probably end up below us on the ladder after the game?

Its difficult to gauge where we are at, and whether we have improved or not. The games we won were against team lacking form or bottom teams. Its not to say the wins were not impressive, but we dont know how that translates against good teams. The next 4 weeks will answer these questions.

I think supporters are entitled to be a bit sceptical about our form. We have been rebuilding for some time now and I am not really interested in being in a pack of 8-10 teams fighting for the final 4 spots in the 8. It is about time this group of players stamped themselves as a bonofide top 4 team, in the next 5 weeks they have the opportunity to put the football world on notice. This group of players is ripe, we have had a pretty easy lead up to this group of games in terms of the opposition we played. We play two strong teams get a rest and then play another two strong teams after that rest.
The time for excuses has well and truly ended, we have an opportunity to make a statement and it is time to deliver.

It is June.

Knowing how bad their June record is the minimum should be 127 points and Hird and Bomber get the sack.

Fair call. If the margin is under 127 points and heads don't roll at Windy Hill, we didn't really win. got it.

Quite frankly I'll be satisfied if the margin of victory is 1.

Although the 100+ idea has merit.

According to some we're so rubbish that we should hand ALL of our points back to the teams we won them from, with a letter of apology, out of sheer embarrassment in the manner of which we won them in the first place.

So who will tag Stanton? Very difficult to tag Watson so Stanton is the one to go to.

He has chopped Carlton up on previous occasions.

Gee ticketek $hit me. Rang up monday to secure decent seats for the gane and was told categorically that all that was left were nosebleeds and nothing better would be released as they were all gone. So I bookedd them only to find the next day premium seats become available and that there are no refunds on tickets purchased.
Ill give them a call this morning and see if they can help. Not happy.
Do the right thing and book early and get the crap seats and people who book late get the premiums.

Any chance at all they'll change our seats?
Anyone had experience with ticketek and issues like this before?

doubt they will change, 1 reason they do this is too stuff up scalpers but thats more aplicable to rock concerts that sell out, as event gets closer they release more good tickets on the drip. most times i never by concert ticks at beginning of sale. wait a few weeks and keep an eye out on ticket site and eventually get best seats.

Good question, I get the feeling Curnow might be a decent choice for him. Probably a more even physical match up and Curnow has the tank.

The interesting dynamic might be how Essendon* balance run and drive off half back with not letting our small forwards get behind them. the likes of Hibberd etc. Essendon* aren't as slow as they were a couple of years ago, but they are by no means quick and I can't see too many options for our small forwards, particularly if Dempsey doesn't get up. Has Winderlich played back?

Do I expect us to win? No
Should we win? Yes
Apparently we are building into a game plan that our players approve of, enjoy and we are gaining momentum.
That can only be a good thing.
Malthouse seems more comfortable with the list at his disposal and has adjusted accordingly. Unfortunately too late for two inferior teams we played earlier on in the year but we also had a couple of let offs which helped our win loss thus far.
The next month and a half will tell us how far we have come and hopefully if we can expect any September action.
This game is the biggest test not only for the year to date but also for what we will be expected to achieve for the next half of the year.
If we can show some fight, determination, team work and courage and squeeze out a win it will set up our season and the belief actually compete with the Hawks, Swans and Cats. We are lucky to get the rats before the main contenders as we must build an extra step to maturity and maybe some real conviction and not just talk and delusion.
We have been strutting and talking about this games like this all year now it’s time to deliver and see what Malthouse has brought to the group.
