A few comments either way ...

Walker was good all day, took some good marks and rebounded out of defence

Menzel looked the goods, will get more composure with time

Murph worked hard inside but did get smashed a bit

Gibbs was very good, but to me looked injured or sore towards the end of the game

Simmo played better than he has been earlier in the season, cleaned up a bit from HB

Krueze rucked well and played well around the ground

Robbo, well seemed out of sorts, not his best game

Yazz was very good and seemed confident when he had the ball

Brock accumulated all day but did seem slow on occasions. Can't complain though, was a good contributor

Boots was ok, still a stick man and needs a bit more composure when he has the ball

Hendo was excellent, first at HF, showed he has brains, then good at FB when Jamo was subbed. If only we had more of him.

Army, just gets better, his speed was telling on several occasions. Is having a great season

Bell came on late a did a couple of things but had limited opportunities

Scotto did a good job but did look slow on several occasions. Got hurt in a couple of clashes

Waite was ok, but he continues to make it hard for himself by leading into the pockets, could have done more

Curnow serviceable

Cachia was solid, but seemed off the pace a bit in the second half

Jeffie, apart from a brain fade with one goal kicking opportunity (should have kept running), was very good, looked dangerous and delivered the goals

Jamo solid, not sure why he was subbed, but probably good to give him a mini break

Levi was good overall, kicking for goal still not good (banana from 45deg, 25m out wtf!!??), solid marks and contributed around the ground

2e was very good, always looks like he is going to kick a goal form 50m+

White was very solid in defence

Overall, no real complaints, bit of pi$$ farting around at times early, got sucked into their dinky close in game too much and should have tried to spread it a bit more imo. Bit of a lapse at the start of the last.

We seem to be in a good position in terms of ins for next week and beyond. Not quite convinced that Kreuze/Levi is enough in the ruck dept and I am not a Knockers fan (not enough/nil contribution around the ground). Murph is struggling a bit, Robbo more so. Menzel and Cachia will give something.

Nothing I would like to see next week more than a win over the Scum. GO BLUES!!

Didn't seem to win the clearance, in close we fumbled and rarely took the ball cleanly - we take that into next weeks game we're in big trouble.

Reasonable game against witches hats.

Good opportunity for Malthouse to teach the team that no matter where our personnel play the system remains the same.
He also got a chance free up a few players to rest their minds for the weeks ahead.

We had no reason to play our better defenders in the back half as out pressure around the ball was enough to make sure any back 6 or 7 we played would have been able to deal with their kids and scattered attacks.

We are still very unclean at times but good win for %.

We have too many players who just have no composure when they're tackled and handball it off, or worse, put other players under the pump with a hospital pass, rather than take the hit themselves. Curnow and Tuohy are the worst for this. McLean and Scotland are as good as anyone going around the competition.

If Betts can play a greater role in the midfield timewise, I'd like to see Menzel given another game. Bootsma deserves another one after today's game, but just don't see who he matches up on. Could he play as a defensive forward on Fletcher, similar to how Robinson did a few years back? Bootsma is pretty similarly built to Fletcher, and reckon it'd be a great learning curve for him.

White to continue his great record on Hurley, Jamo to Crameri, Hendo on the resting ruck.

If the match committee think Curnow can do the job on Watson (think he's better suited to Stanton), you'd perhaps bring Carrazzo back through the VFL.

The extra small forward would make sense. They always towel Essendon*, hence Menzel isn't an automatic out for me just yet.

Surely as second ruckman and occasional forward Casboult ended Hampson's career at Carlton? I thought his around the ground work was quite good today with a few good solid defensive marks. Critics will point out he missed a few shots but at least they span like a drop punt should.

Agree with earlier call that we were loose in the first half. Almost flippant use of the ball sometimes. Good third quarter. Nice forward line work through the game with a number of options.

I'm hoping he ended Warnocks career.

Brock was very good today.
Kruz BOG.
Walks very good.
Yazz and Jeffy very good.
Very impressed with young Boots.
Hendo, just getting better and better.
Menzel. Very smooth. Clean hands when marking. This kid could be a special talent.
Most improved player on our list is Army. Very reliable with ball in hand. One of our better finishes. Love his workrate. Second to none in this regard on our list.
Hope we keep Cazzy in. Played well against the cheats last time if I recall. Good set of hands.
Liked Zac's game also.

Casboult is certainly a better mark, better forward and reckon he's better around the ground too. Hampson bit be a bit better in the ruck but when you consider the 2nd ruck doesn't ruck that much, i'll take all those other aspects. You conveniently forgot Casboult's two big rundowns of Dempsey last year against Essendon*.

Only negative was missing some very easy goals but otherwise an easy win at far less than full intensity.

Will take a 94 point win anyday.
Pretty scrappy early and many players had the fumbles.
Walker continues his great year as has Garlett.
Next week will be a huge test.

Particularly this one:

Quote:
Malthouse said his team, which kicked 16 of the game's last 18 games against the battling Giants, had a lot of work to do on its touch and delivery.

Good 4 quarter effort from most players... put away a poor team like we should

Did Murphy play today?

I reckon Walker is looking at AA selection if he maintains current form.
