We lacked foot speed and a little bit of nifty-ness inside our forward 50 last night.

Its pointless picking speedsters if they cant actually get the ball or impact the contest.
Buckley is struggling to gain multiple possessions in the VFL. Why force the issue?

Needs to be more dynamic rather than a lite...

Or he will struggle too!!

This is where opinions are fantastic.

I don't think Warnock has had any good games.....sorry, he held his own against the Eagles.

He got smashed by McEvoy
Contributed bugger all against Port and absolutely nothing last night.
I can't believe that most seem to think winning the hit out count justifies his place in the team.

Could someone please explain why someone his size cannot take a mark?
Either he has an inability to get himself to positions to contest for marks, or he lacks a desire to impose himself physically on a contest, or his team mates have a lack of confidence in his ability to take a mark and don't see him as an option.

The missus and i had a chocolate souffle the other night that was harder than him.

I reckon he's a liability unless he can impose himself. Give Levi a go as a backup. At least he'll get some possessions and impact a few contests.

Disappointed by the lack of praise for Jamison's game. I thought he was outstanding last night and controlled Brown (with some able assistance from hendo), who has often been not just a thorn but a spear in our side.

Media commentators just look at stats when they decide who the best players are. I thought Jamo was very good.

I'll take the four points and be gratefull for another interstate win lacklustre that it was.Winning interstate is gold regardless of the opposition.Agree we aint flyin'.Just have to get the run and spread and that running hard both ways going. But i feel we are an improving side. Not fantastic, but on the up.Quite a few players seem to be getting better.Lucas,Curnow,Bell,Cachia,Henderson,Armfield,Jammo,Walker,Touhy, and Bootsma are in career best form. They are starting to gell.Reckon a big scalp is just around the corner.

Just watched the game. Bryce Gibb's last quarter was all quality. Composed and skillful under great pressure. Juddy was magnificent and was the true leader for us. Either Murph is injured or he cannot take the game on or be there when needed. Jamo and Hendo both quality and another game into Bell and Cachia. Brock did so much of the grunt work and Simmo was constructive and upped his work rate. Our finishing was dreadful but at least we were getting the ball and creating chances. As others have noted, kicking for goal is all in the head so some work needed on their head spaces this coming week. Hopefully Yarran is not far away.
Take the 4 points and work hard again next week.

Jamo's been outstanding all season apart from the St Kilda game (where he popped his shoulder out)
When his body holds together, he's one of the best tall defenders in the game.
Dont look for too much praise for him here Blues87, some would even prefer White as our primary defender.

So Lucas and Bootsma Bell in career best form now Mick.....???
thems are some careers
Tuohy is down in early last year form... id be running him through myself...

the scalps will come when we do all the little things and work for each other.. sacrifice for one another(including juddy)...... we have to be little Chinese Maoist men...I cant get in trouble for that can i????

+2 in praise for Jamo, key part of a defensive structure which is beginning to come together.

..thing is, it's not the first time.. ..if he's injured sure, i can understand it to a certain extent, but the fact is his worse isn't a rarity, and it's pretty bad when it happens.. .... ..and personally i don't think his tapwork is as good as ppl rave on about.. ..i think he's good at nullifying the opposition ruckman, more than he is at dominating them.. ..he may get a lot of hitouts, but too many get put down right in front at his feet..

..and i don't think he has enough good games consecutively [before form/injury strikes] to get a good understanding and rhythm with the onball brigade.. .... ..and plenty of consecutive games is what all ruckmen need to get in sync with their mids.. .... ..has he ever played more than half a season in a year..?.. ..has he ever played 8+ games in a row..?..

..he has yet to prove you can rely on him in the ruck, cos he breaks down far too often.. ..he's 26.... ..i know rucks take time to develop, and he has improved compared to when he first arrived to us.. ..but his durability is a concern.. ..a big knock, and he's hampered for weeks.. ..as a ruckman, that's constantly getting battered, he's just too fragile to hold up under the barrage..

Home from a weekend in Brisbane. Weather was great.
That is the second time i have been to the Gabba and i must say the Qld people really are ignorant when it comes to watching footy.
They spend most of the time going back and forth buying drinks, food etc and talking during the game and standing in the aisle talking to other people, I think it is a social outing for them.
Cant say i enjoyed the game, the first quarter was good but my goodness our goalkicking is woeful.
I sat near the cheersquad so the entire area was full of Carlton supporters, in fact close to half of the 24,000 crowd would have been Carlton supporters.
Its a good ground to watch from but the scoreboard gives you nothing. No stats, scores from other games or anything useful.
A win is a win.
Great second half by Judd, Gibbs had a brilliant last quarter, Jamo held Brown well.(who should get suspended), Waite is so important to us, Robbo good as was Lucas. Murphy got the rough treatment again and is playing injured.
Glad i was there to cheer them on, they came over to our section after the game and they looked pretty happy and relieved.

Such is life in these parts. Still, better than during the 2000s when the Lions were unbeatable at the Gabba.

That said, in the row behind me were a bunch of Carlton supporting lads who had made the trip from Melbourne and when they weren't bagging Bell, Bootsma, Warnock or Lucas they were highly interested in other games they had bets on, including NRL, or their dreamteam scores.
