On a positive note, we came back in the second half and guts it out. To be fair at half time the signs
were not the best having conceded 5 or 6 straight.
Cachia did a good job for most of the night . Dennis can be relied on to do a job.
Brock good.
Waite very good early.Like another poster mentioned Im not sure why Lucas was out target inside forward
50 in the last when Waite had given them so much grief all night.

Funny thing i noticed at the start of the 3rd. Inside 30 second they had a shot on goal and missed.Simmo, instead of letting
his direct opponent know about such a crutial miss , gave him a "she'll b right, better luck next time" love tap.
I am on his case a bit this year...but FMD, more passion please Simmo.

Overall scrappy interstate win. Move on to next week.

Lucas was very very good tonight

Run and carry yes. Body on body work pathetic.

How does this guy pinch the ball out of the oppositions hands time after time. Houdini. Really impressed with Curnow. Plays within his means. Gives it off to a player in better position and didn't thror the ball on boot till he knew he had it going to a team mate by hand

:sly:

How does this guy handball to the opposition again and again?
How does he drop simple chest marks at crucial times?

His work rate is fantastic, and he can tag, but he is an absolute liability with the ball

I know where you're coming from Stamos.

I'm not a big Curnow fan.

His weaknesses are a liability, but I wouldn't say that he was an "ABSOLUTE liability with the ball" last night. The dropped chest mark in the last was pathetic, but he did do a lot of GREAT work with the ball before that...yes I know that's not the norm. Credit where credit is due.

Curnow is not in my fist 22, nor first 25 for that matter, but glad he's on our list till the kids pick up the game this year. Has been handy for us this year.

We lacked foot speed and a little bit of nifty-ness inside our forward 50 last night.

hard running

Played on Zorco. Kept him to 8 touches while getting 19 himself.

If Zorco gets 20 or more not sure we would have won.

Curnow is not the most skillful.. but he is a competive beast.. he needs to tidy up skills as mmuch as possible.

commentators had a big of a wank over Brown and Zorko last night but they were not important factors in the game against us

Brown just will never be again... he must realise this... he is just a Jonno Citizen..... sniping wont change that....

Don't get this "White had 0 kicks, MUST be dropped" either.

Played on Rockliff most of the night, who did SFA.

Is that why we are (apparently) after Daisy Thomas..?

I have no idea if 800k is correct.

Obviously we have to be financially responsible with our TPP etc, but he would be a terrific pick up for us if we can make it work. I don't want to sell the farm for him either, but if he wants to leave Collingwood (and I have no idea of their salary cap situation) and be reunited with MM then we'd be crazy not to at least explore it.

Channel 9 boys looking after one of their own. If Brown gets a holiday expect Sam Newman to claim he was hard done by on TFS this week.

Of course if one gets hit in the jaw, the pain restricts itself to an area of a square centimetre. Morons.

Re Warnock - He is a very good tap ruckman, but that is it. When he is dominant and we win clearances, that is enough, against sides with solid rucks and good clearance players, getting nothing around the ground in terms of crashing packs and possessions and the occasional contested mark will out balance the taps. Also we invested a #1 pick in Big K, he needs to establish himself as a top ruckman. For our future Judd and Waite being our best two players doesn't auger well. We have banked the 4 points but we need to beat several of Hawks, Swans, Bombers and Pies to show we are more than a middling side.

Not sure what has happened to Laidler, he looked great in 2011 and has now dropped behind White. Lucas has his critics, but he can run and needs to improve his kicking. The old 'he won't ever play in a flag side" is wrong, every year there is a Mitch Morton or a Mitch Duncan or Nathan Ablett or Shannon Byrne or Chris Dawes or any number of other ordinary players with faults who play in flag sides.

We lack resilience, leadership and cohesion across the team and we also lack about three class players (drafting is so crucial). Has Mitchell shown anything in the 2s? When you see guys like Hanneberry at #30 and Parker at #40 you realise that a few different picks can make all the difference. Robbo is about the only big bodied in an under clearance guy we have gone for in the ND which indicates we didn't anticipate the rise of the big bodied midfielder as other sides did.

I like Cachia, unlikely to get a star from rookie and re rookied players, but we need hard dedicated players, and he is one. MM should tell them that anyone who gets double figures in tackles is in the team next week. Army is a very solid citizen also.
