How does this guy pinch the ball out of the oppositions hands time after time. Houdini. Really impressed with Curnow. Plays within his means. Gives it off to a player in better position and didn't thror the ball on boot till he knew he had it going to a team mate by hand

:sly:

How does this guy handball to the opposition again and again?
How does he drop simple chest marks at crucial times?

His work rate is fantastic, and he can tag, but he is an absolute liability with the ball

Given that MR panel seems to judge half the time based on the amount of media noise generated, I'd suspect Brown is safe. Only a 'love tap' apparently. Although Jamo was clearly sore for at least the next 10 minutes afterwards. Whereas Waite got suspended although I'm still not convinced he actually made contact.

Brown is gone. You cant give someone a forearm to the jaw because you're frustrated.
2-3 weeks IMO

"Powerful runners who can EXECUTE" can play anywhere...

thats not an insular model.. its not like taking left footers cos Hawthorn did... or single dimmensional hbfers....

Ill give you example... HAnley for Brissy is one....
Puopolo is another..
Armfield is becoming another.
Tuohy might become one.....
Swans whole midfield... classic example...

Theyre not all stars.... but you can play them even on the hbf if you wanna...

Duigan / Laidler / Davies / Joseph even White arent...(though i dont mind White)

Thats the profile you wanna be trying to bring in....

Also, don't think the 'best players' are necessarily the ones that are already having the most impact at junior level. There's been too much chasing of half back flankers and smaller utilities at the expense of developing KPPs and such.

u guys whinge alot.....lots of positives for me that i have not seen us do.

1.kicking it to a forward who is leading.
2. we were much cleaner with the ball
3. our application for the ball was much better then im use to
4 we won away which is always a good thing
5. lucas cacchia, bell played well

honestly we have played one really shit game this year and i will take a 6-4 record
i think we will only get better as the year goes on.

Look it all depends on expectations

If aiming to finish 6th to 10th your spot on

If aim is 1 to 5 then miles off

6-4 looks 'ok' atm... after the break we have Bummers, Dawks, Swans and da Pois

The garbage we've produced in the past few week will get seriously exposed unless we improve

Billy and Lloydy (with a laughable "look at what side Jamo's holding" detective work) doing everything they can to get Brown off the hook...

We've won 5 out of the last 6. That is good form no matter how you look at it.
After the win next week against the Giants, it'll be 6 out of the last 7 and all the losses have been close where we could have won it.
We have been in every single game this year and you can't be too disappointed, a win's a win's a win.

Having said that, practice kicking in front of the big sticks this week plz MM!

then we will see where at in the next 2 games.......

its not kicking practice we need.. its some zen factor we need to learn.

they can kick but they crumble under pressure.

you cant simulate match conditions and pressure ....

its a case of having guys that dont do the right things on the field.. and that leads to "i must not miss... i must not miss"....which then in our case leads to having a nice piece of apple crumble....

If everyone in the side can be relied on to do the correct things in a team environment more often ... we wouldnt be in those mental state situations.

Its clearly a case of whats going on in the minds on the individuals we believe and hope will deliver us a flag.

I disagree, it's not about the other players not doing the right things. It's about being part of a group and a club that you believe in and that accept you regardless of whether you happen to f^%% up provided your honest about your performance. its about feeling that you belong. That's what MM is referring to as focussing on the processes. Such a fine line not only with sport but with business, where you can loose focus on what it's all about, thats how you end up choking your whole organization. Forget the damn flag, that's just a piece of cheap cloth. Let them grow together as human beings, the flag comes to the teams that grow best, not those that merely chase the shitty flag.

I just noticed him hesitate twice last nite, and both times proved costly. apart from that, he's been much improved.

Our spread is woeful. Once the lions went man to man in the 2nd qtr we struggled to think our way out of the back third.

Warnock is streets ahead of Kreuzer in the ruck, and Casboult offers more of a target up forward. Mick needs to address this by the time we play the bombers.

Cachia is a keeper, but we still lack two or three quality gut busting runners to break from the wings when we rebound it. See Swans, Sydney.

Oh yeah ... I'm still seeing to much selfishness.

Bell coulda handballed over the top to Lucas in an open goal square, instead he elects to squib it on the run for a point.

Walker talking at halftime, sums our attitude up. "I saw ?? running off me, but I thought, "Nah, he wouldn't handball it to me with an open goal, so I took a bounce and kicked it."

It's plagued Carlton for nearly a decade, and imo is the biggest difference on th field from all of our successful teams of the 80's and 90's. We don't play unselfishly team footy.

The Swans has shown everyone that a champion team beats the team of champions.

... and we have few champions.

P.S I'd like to see Buckley play next week. Great opportunity with Betts out another week.

We lacked foot speed and a little bit of nifty-ness inside our forward 50 last night.
