Had all the potential during the game of a smashing that didn't happen.

Brought our best with us.....our usual lapse backed up by absolutely sh!tful goalkicking.

Definitely happy to win after Brisbane's great effort last week but gee we like to make life so unnecessarily hard for ourselves.

Reckon that Bell and Cachia were very good in the first part of the game.

Need to keep playing them so that they can run a full game out at that level.

If they can do that, our midfield steps up significantly.

Don't quite get why you'd play Bootsma as sub. Would've thought far better to give him a role on Bewick, or one of Brisbane's small forwards. Play Gibbs on ball. Use an accumulator as your sub.

I would've preferred Menzel......give him game time.

all in all, take the pts. the main issue for me is the ease of scoring against.

ruck wise, i reckon levi + Kruz is the answer, but match committee are slowly improving the structures, rather than selecting outright and letting it fail..

can't wait to get betts (aka CHF) & yazz back to spice it up. i really like walker forward too & prefer gibbs as quarterback.

btw, love cachia & bell in the 1sts!! go blues

Good sides need to learn to smash StKilda Port Brissy and GWS..

Then they get into the good habits against the better sides.

We have lapses against crappy sides.. so of course we crumble against good sides.

We also have players who are not good enough to take us there

Thought the same thing about Bootsma...either play him from the start and sub him out if he is not having an influence later on or keep Menzel as sub and use him as an impact player later in the game.

You can only really sub Boots in a like for like..

This team mentally struggle with being the hunted. Too many front runners so when teams hunt us and apply pressure we struggle and most of the time let the opp back in through being softies and taking foot off pedal. Mick is right its a mental thing. Better get the hypnotist or witch doctor out Mick bec most of these guys have been doing this shit for years, it's why fifth is their best placing over the journey

And too many of them don't like it rough, it's why we haven't beaten Hawthorn for years. They bully and intimidate us physically.

With 20/20 hindsight...White misses and Menzel is sub

unless they sub'd out a tall. that would have been my pref in the 3rd Q. anyway, no one wins premierships in rnd 9 sub selections.

This mob are happy just being in the eight

How many of the leaders look desperate to do better than 5-8??

Seriously

Sub-consciously they just aren't up to the challenge to be top four

Mediocrity

And Judd's on the way out ...crikey !!

Irony is Yazz and Betts to come in and both are soft tops. More soft tops.

Maybe Robbo the mad Tasmanian should be skipper lol

Murphy's single act of leadership was to get a soft free in front of goal !!

Geez that was a shit game of footy. Far from convincing but just relieved we didn't cough it up in the end.

Hard to find stand out players...Cachia wasn't bad but just lacks a bit of polish at times. Liked robbo's game.

What did Warnock do did that pissed the Lions off?

We are painful to watch. We are way too sloppy and lack hard runners.

Under pressure our decision making and skills are not up to the standard required. Too many times I see Carlton players drop simple handball receives.

We are slow on the outside of the packs.

We have to take on GWS with the view to trashing them. We need to hurt them physically and on the scoreboard, otherwise we go into the game against Essendon* with a soft mind.

Exactly !!!

A nd yes were fast but we dont have many powerful runners in the side... fast yes... powerful runners no...!!!

and we dont have any ruthlesness about ourselves...

i know what i would do if i was mick and i know he would be thinking the same thing....

Agree with what most people are saying.

One thing that I thought was pleasing was that we were able to get goals just before the siren in both the first and third quarters. In what was ultimately a 13-point win, those two goals were pretty important.

We will be 6-4 with a healthy percentage after we win next week (let's face it, we are going to win). I think most would probably have taken that, particularly after the tough start to the season. It gives us a decent platform from which to launch into the second half of the season.
