Laids and Duigs were good players for us, but hardly in the top 5 players at the club

And Laidler looks even slower since the knee injuries

When Laidler was playing before his injury ... he was just as slow as he is now. He was also the BEST and most CONSISTENT backman we had ... so that argument just does not hold any water. Another foul up by the MC and MM ... destroying any confidence Laidler had.

Just more bad decisions in my opinion.

Walker, Yarran, Garlett, Tuohy, Warnock, Henderson, White, Lucas, Armfield and Jamison are arguably playing the best football of their career.

Someone obviously knows what they are doing.

Would not be surprised to see cazbolt come in for warnock, who I hear is a bit sore.

Kruze is a better match up for luenberger than warnock. Luey in good form ATM.

As much as I want to see Cazzy back in that would be disappointing in that Warnock is our no.1 ruck and Krooz needs to spend more time forward, especially when he started to show something last week.

..Knockers did look sore towards the end of the game vs port, so if she's still feeling sore he will need to be rested.. ..he doesn't have the durability to withstand the battering a first ruck endures for game after game.. ..so if we don't want him to break down soon, he'll need to be rested if he's sore..

I think that since Laidler's surgery he has a problem with pushing off on his leg and that has caused him to lose that initial acceleration which is crucial for a backman. This happens with some players after knee operations and it takes them a year or more to get back to their best. Hopefully he starts to come good later in the season.

He is now being tried up forward in the reserves to add another string to his bow and provide the MC with more options. He is a good mark and straight kick and reads the ball well through the air but I think that loss of a yard in pace is holding him back at present.

i reckon he is forward to hide him.

so someone thinks.. he was good as a hbfer under ratts....and trades.

hes gawwwwn unless he does a brock.. and he probably will get a shot at some stage.. but he will be pushing it up hill even if he does

..i think the issue for Laids, is his current 'defender' type role of 3rd man up, loose intercept mark etc can be filled by others.. ..walker is doing well, plus that spot that used to be laids, could open up to be a part-way "rotation" spot where flankers and mids may be rotated thru.. ..he'll need to get back to his best 2011 form to be playing defender seniors again.. ..not much hope for him up fwd in seniors, at all i think..

Good to hear. I'm a big fan. Wish him only the best, and hope he'll be flying again soon.

With Laids, it is only going to get harder for him when McInnes returns (assuming AndyMac can return to his pre-injury form).

Laidler's main problem is that White is now really starting to think that he can play at this level. Whilst he (White) doesnt have Laidler's footy smarts at this stage, he is faster and more athletic than Laidler. His kicking also has more penetration. Whilst I like McInnes, I think he will struggle to break in this year, but agree that White and McInnes are really the best third tall options and Laidler is going to struggle. On that basis, Duigan is a long way off.

Also think laids is good but has been slowed by the knee -but isnt it good that he effectively has 2 others taking his spot ie bootsma and white
white currently deserves his spot - and at the moment is doing enough to hold it - is also versatile can go forward - white has the capacity to do both good and evil but his output at the moment is more good than evil - bootsma is quicker and probably have more upside

I know it was a long while ago but laids couple of missed spoils in I think the Richmond game looked horrible

Know the ones you're talking about Frank. The Collingwood game, late in the third quarter. One he was just too slow, and the other he mistimed it badly. Both resulted in goals.

Bit harsh to sub him given Casboult did nothing that day, but seems papers were stamped around then.

Even though he's only played a handful of games, McInnes is best 22 for me every day of the week. Can't wait for him to be back, and hope he gets back to his best.

I think you will find that McInnes will develop into a more mobile HBF ala Mackie.

He will be back after the bye. Has had a good rehab and is fit and running well. If he can get 6-7 games under him at the NB's and then a big pre season I will be happy.

Laid's will be back, just give him time. White is doing a very good job currently as well by the way but did well late last year when required to play KP. Seems like he is developing nicely. Laidler was traded as the 3rd tall back not HBF as some perceive. Never a HBF.

White in the preseason game against Freo showed the best signs of all the KPs we have at CHF.
He really surprised me. I did hold a lot of hopw that he would make it because of his acceleration.

Since then he's been a bit disappointing for me.

He is doing OK and is seems to be playing like a desperate player which is good and bad, but he does seem to panic a bit and doesn't steady when he can. His kicks are a bit up and under.

I haven't written off Laidler and have high hopes on the unbeatable McInnes (I was so excited we drafted him). Bootsma will also challenge in the HB position, or he will be a wingman...whatever he's the future.

Laidler hasn't lost his footy smarts but he may have lost a yard and in today's game pace is very very important.

I reckon McInnes will play at some stage in the 2nd half of the H & A only because he seesm to be training freely and has recovered quicker than most suggsting he's a fast healer.

As long as Laidler, Mcinnes, boots, McCarthy, Collins & Dale are all tried before Davies I'm happy

Love McInnes since his 1st AFL game last year to Bondi. The boy showed plenty.

Agree has shown more than enough to warrant selection when match fit. Plays to his strengths, keeps it simple, loves the one on ones & has reliable disposal. 200 gamer if he has good run with injury
