We do alright at the Gabba so playing there doesn't phase me like it used to back in the Pagan years.

Sauce Merrett will surely get done for his tackle of the Cabbie Basher, so that d leave a big hole in their defence that we could exploit with Kreuz and Waite.

Eddie usually does well against the Lions (remember his two species up there last year), so his absence will be felt.

Jono Brown has terrorized our defence many times over the years, and while these days he's not what he used to be, we still need to play close attention to him or else we know first hand the damage he can do.

If our Rucks and mids can take hold of theirs, and we can exploit Sauce's absence in our forward line, we should be able to come away from this game with a 4-6 goal win.

Carlton onballer Bryce Gibbs has missed three weeks with a hamstring injury and could return against Brisbane, but Malthouse would not discuss his progress.

How we perform in this match will say a lot about where our psychology as a group is at.

I have a strong feeling he may well replace Warnock. We looked very cumbersome up forward when Waite went off and judging by his comments I think MM is leaning towards the one ruck model.

I thought the same and it may well have made sense against many other teams but we just don't want to take Leuenberger lightly.

I think the temptation may well be there to bring in Casboult and have Kreuzer do the bulk of the ruck-work, but I think we may get cold feet in the end.

Casboult is playing at a high level right now albeit in a lower comp. Loving the amount of ground he's covering and it will serve him well eventually.

He was very mysterious in his responses with regards to our injuries in the post-match presser.

What's odd is that on the Saturday pre-game press conference he was talking up how close Gibbs was to the Port game, same with Carrots.

One of them would have had to come in had have we had a warm-up injury so at least one of them was very, very close.

So true.

We flowered up v Saints, but possibly should have won if not for game day injuries.

A chance for redemption here. I'm glad they beat Bombers, it should ensure no apathy going into this.

Geez I hope so. We're effectively playing a man down at the moment.

As a pure Ruckman I believe Warnock is our best and by a fair way. However, trying to get some balance into the side I think they will go with Kruezer being supported by Casboult or Rowe.

I don't think so as Kreuzer is giving away 4cm in height to Leunberger and doesn't jump as high, Warnock gives us more of a chance if first ball use from the centre square. Without Merrett, Malthouse maybe tempted with a Kreuzer mismatch down forward - if only our friggin talls could kick straight.

In fact if only our whole list could be relied on to kick straight for goal. :banghead:

I think Merrett will go - which will be a huge loss for their structure

would be crazy to drop Warnock, has been once of our best consistently since returning to the side

Don't see the Lions making the eight really, although a terrific win over the (again) over-rated Bombers (ask Mark Robinson there again). One day he will get it right though.
Anyway I don't really see the eight changing too much throughout the year, barring that the Power will not make it and if the Magpies have too many injury problems that might count against them.
A game we should win to be in the mix for the eight really, think it could be any one of us, Crows, Eagles or the Roos who will make it in the end...

Not crazy if it gives better balance and structure to side.

I think Warnock has been good and will get better.

It's so much about picking the best side to win, the opposition and the conditions. Also, sides are really developing line ups that are more and more mobile. It's a reason why Laidler isn't getting a game.

When Waite went off and Kruezer or Warnock went forward we looked slow and predictable.
