Take the four points after the six-day break and get ready for a resurgent Lions.

I think every win is a good win at this stage.

Would have liked to see us out them away a bit earlier and Menzel get a longer run

He marked well around the ground, but probably should have kicked a few goals.

But we looked much better with only two ruckmen and Waite in F50.

Murph looked good up fwd early in the game too and was pretty good all match.

Did what we had to do but still a lot of work to be done. Hopefully some of our better players to come back into the side this week.

Thought Jeff Garlett was our best, closely followed by Murphy.

Good to see Waite and Kreuz clunk a few but need them to hit the scoreboard better.

Defence also looked a bit nervy at times.

Umpiring was truly inexplicable. I don't know if I understand the rules anymore that's how bad it has become!

also special mention to Bootsma. I can now see the makings of a long term player for the club.

Yes, looks much better on a smaller opponent than as the third tall. Keep him in.

Umpiring was awful both ways.

Carrots, Gibbs, Yarran and Eddie all out. We had 7 more scoring shots and dominated play for about 60% of the game. I'm happy with the win. Port had their best team in, have a good midfield and a solid forward line, they're not the easy beats of the past.

We look better with less talls. Bootsma moves well for his height. Yaz and Eddie make us a 5 goal better team too.

Cachia and Bell add some hardness but have their limitations. Still plenty to work with.

Best: garlett, walker murphy
Good signs: cachia, bootz, bell & white
Special mentions: Give menzel another go & also liked 2 rucks

Not sure who makes way for Betts, yarran, carrots or gibbs if avail?

It's easy:

You are not allow to touch, push, pull or hold...however, you can poleax and rip the heads off the smaller players.

..krooz can work up fwd, but you need a real kpf to take the heat as main-man..

..neither krooz nor waite had their kicking boots on, but they won't miss as many often..

Umpiring was so inconsistent today.

Bootsma was good.
Good to see Kruezer taking marks but his goal kicking is terrible.

Should have won by more but Port could barely miss today and aren't as bad as they used to be.

Total form reversal from his early games. Did he kick 11 straight before a behind?

What stands out the most are two glaring things:

- We are as soft as marshmallows at times.
- We kick with hope rather than intent.

Both will cost us games.

As for this one...

Cachia - A busy, busy, bee, and should be retained in my opinion. 15 disposals but a monster in the clearances. 10 tackles. Worked his ass off. No squib.
Henderson - Man of the match for me. Repelled attack after attack. 9 marks in the defensive half. He's the new (healthy) Waite. Can do it at both ends of the ground.
Robinson - Disposal aside, the most prolific ball winner today. Just kept getting it. A couple of goals.

Solid games by Simpson, Bell, Walker, Armfield, Tuohy, White...

Lucas is growing more and more frustrating. Not by what he does do, but what he doesn't do.

Curnow completely blanketed Boak and was close to our best for mine.No way will he get dropped. His ability to blanket an opponent and get a kick himself is invaluable.Getting better by the week and is a walk up start for mine..Bell and Cachia providing inside muscle.Well done to both of them.Cachia in particular uses the ball well.Warnock and Kruezer both great..................our big challenge now is to RISE to the challenge. We have a chance against the Lions to show whether we can step up.Biggest game of the year coming up against the Lions who will be ferocious. It wont be a tactical game,it will be about who wants it the most.
