Has Dennis got too much say over football department issues?

Has the board given up too control over the football department?

I'm thinking the board's a bit piss weak for not putting their stamp on the football dept and demanding some asst coach changes for one.

Last and no change. All's sweet at PP land.

I think the concept of changing everything may be a bit radical.

Let's give it one more year, and if the performances are as pissweak as this year, then there will be a broom put through the assistant coaches.

Why should we leave it one more year?

Why not bring in the changes now? We've finished last, we've got Marc Murphy and we have nothing to lose. We can only go up from here on in.

So instead of having the same old people at the club, why not bring in two new blokes to replace Trout and Libba so that the players and Denis can be surrounded in new ideas? Ideas that they haven't experienced before.

It just really annoys me that we haven't done anything to change the coaching staff that coached us to a wooden spoon. How many of you would have liked Carey and Rehn over Trout and Libba?

True, I actually agree with your point, but given that the decision has been made, it's farting against thunder to try and change it now.

Yes, we truly have nothing to lose. The Club barely has nothing. So the performances of the team now are solely the responsibility of the coaching staff, and there will be no hiding from that.

And, yes, I'd love to have given Libba the boot. I would have done it myself.

NOW, There's an idea for a raffle!! Buy tickets, and the winner gets to fire one member of the coaching or playing staff. I'd buy a ticket for that!!

Ok.. in my opinion we dont have enough FRESH ideas people at the club.
Collo heart attack.. broken leg.. oldish.age around 60.
Denis.. great task master but needs people to freshen him up.. age 60ish.
Grant Williams( Football manager).. not a footy person .. knows little about the game.. great guy but an administrator.
Trout Elshaug... (been with Denis for a long time)well is nothing more than what Brittain was for Parkin...
Libba.. yet to see anything .
Mitchell.. great job for the Bullants but we didnt have as many injuries as other teams...
Sticks??? cant wear two hats and was part of the Elliot footy dept... everyones best mate and still has mates in the playing group...

Thats the whos who of our footy dept....

We need change!!!

Maybe they're waiting for Vossie to retire.

Carey was never going to suit Carlton at $100k for a part timer. We have to accept we cant get into a bidding war with the Filth. I got slammed for suggesting carlton apply for CBF, so we will have to accept being a second class citizen for at least another decade.

I agree with Synbad we need someone with new ideas, like a Rendell at St kilda. Libba doesnt qualify.

Pagan is the senior coach. He should have autonomy in the football department. For goodness sake, he is and should be the man incharge, else you would have chaos.

Whether he has the right assistance or he is left to run the department the way he like is a different question.

Dennis is in his comfort zone with trout and Libba etc. where no one will question him.

I've spoken to him a few times since he's been at the club Elwood and he continues to impress me.
He has grasped the balance between running a business and running a member associated football club well.
He has a good understanding of football now and has overseen major improvements in the commercial operations section.
IMHO, he's excellent value.

Plus if you send MM an email or a letter he will ALWAYS get back to you.. which is a step in the right direction as far as the club is concerned....

Malouf is answerable to the board and I agree with BV he isdoing a pretty good job. Best CEO we have had in a while.

Re Dennis, he has total control over the Football dept, as it should be. At the end of the day he stands on the results achviecved on the field. A coach has to trust the staff under him to do thier jobs. If they don't then they can be moved on. It seems the reveiw has found that on the whole the coaching staff have done pretty much what they could this year, given the circumstances.

I wanted a review, I got one and I am comfortable with its findings.

I've had some minor dealings with Malouf as well, and would have to offer more pats on the back to him. In my experience he has proven to be very accessible, which I find very pleasing.

Dennis has too much power in the running of the team as a whole. No one in the coaching staff has really made there mark on team. For example Essendon* has Mark Harvey who has leadership skills and respects Sheedy. We need a predecessor to
Pagan who has played the game but has a different view on tactics but is willing to learn and follow the best in the business. PAGAN

PS Whitnall to retire and become assistant coach!
