I know Murph was injured last week, but he really needs to step up soon. He's only had one really good game this year and it was against Melbourne.
I gave him a break in the first month as a slow start but we're round 8 now. We know what he's capable of. He's captain now, and needs to lead by example and set the standard. I'm confident he'll deliver

It'd be Rowe and Hampson and Menzel back to the twos, with Rowe on stand-by if Jamo doesn't come up and Menzel to be sub if Murphy doesn't?

I think Menzel will be in.
With Betts and Yarran out that's a fair bit a flair/x-factor/polish missing up forward. Menzel is the only player that fits the bill to fill this role up forward. For mine it was always going to be Menzel or Buckley coming in.

Waite back is a big plus... hope Rowe is selected he adds some grunt and toughness even if the polish isn't there.

Not sure I follow your thinkin' there, barass. Waite back is the single biggest minus of a selection for 2013. I'm hoping it's just a ruse and they actually play him in the twos. Then Rowe in for Waite, and Joseph, Cachia, Bell, and Menzel for the bench.

I agree... playing Waite is pi$$weak. the leadership team should have imposed another weeks ban

So you both would then add another week for Betts and play him in the two's when he becomes available in 3 weeks time?

Tell me you're taking the p1ss.

Tell yourself! What don't you get? You guys focus on this one in and that one out and it's all rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. Who gives a shit what single player plays or doesn't. In the big scheme of things, beating Port will make no difference. After all, we beat Melbourne didn't we!!??

Until we're willing to REALLY upset the apple cart and do the equivalent of dropping Stevie J for 6 weeks, dropping Stokes for 10 weeks or whatever it was, sitting Gazza down and telling him he's a lazy flower, standing up to Scarlett and letting him know he's a knob...... we'll stay in the same predicament we've been in for the past decade.

Playing Waite this week will be another in a long line of shit decisions (or non-decisions) this average club has made in the last 10 years, right on the back of (in no particular order):

- not getting Fev to pull his head in (ie, not dropping him);
- allowing Pagan and Mitchell to behave like schoolgirls for almost a year;
- tolerating Lance showing up at the beginning of each year looking like a contestant on The Biggest Loser;
- tolerating a CAPTAIN holding out for more money every year and training on his own;
- not dropping Fev, Lappin, and Houlihan down to the twos for a month in a public statement......

There's more, but you get the flavour.

I'll trade you Waite's 3 contested marks in the FP and 2 goals 3 for a shock wave going through the playing group with a collective "Wow, they're fairdinkum! They're willing to risk not having a marking forward just to say we won't tolerate flowers here!!! Wow!! Time to pull our heads in and get serious!"

To everyone who seems to think Waite should have been left out by the leadership group this week I ask you,

Has any team, coach, leadership group EVER imposed an extra week(s) ban for a suspended player in addition to that handed down by the tribunal?

And it doesn't count if it's a fringe player.
This is by far our best key forward in a team that is absolutely screaming for a key forward.
A guy that many believe to be the most important to our team, if not at least in the top 5.

Agree Moshe. Heard an interview with him on 3AW before the game on Monday night where he pointed out that he had only been suspended 3 times and his on field bad behaviour was exaggerated. This bloke just does not get it and he`s in the leadership group. So he comes straight back in this week where the only message to him is "they need me".

Pfft, semantics - the point is I'm over the constant subterfuge over injuries and their severity. A change in coaching personnel hasn't done much to fix that.
