If we lose we may as well still be in the Ratten days, they def playing now with a new belief and i love how possibly 5 of our defenders who in fact have all been there nearly all season have stayed there and playing with a lot more aggression and teamwork and all having best seasons ever.

jamo and hendo. possibly 1st time ever they played 6 times together to start a season, walkers run is the best i seen from him and Zac has been solid as a rock since round 3 and i like the way white's going about things too.

Why do I get the feeling all this 'they're shit, we'll smash them' talk is just setting us all up for a week of 'we're shit, we should have smashed them' even after a handy 4-5 goal win on Monday night (or heaven forbid even a loss)?

If were shit were shit.. im telling you what we should do if were a competent side...

im not telli ng you what we will do if were crap!!!

just smash em

Thats it DU

This club has been tiptoeing through the tulips for way too long.. about time it started to get back some of that Carlton swagger Ratts kept talking about and went about it by tagging everything that moved ...
Id hate to see a tag on ratboy... Curnow should be running up and linking up... if ratboy wants to stay in the goal square and kick the odd goal i wouldnt mind.... but that means we will have more numbers at the contest pushing the ball thre other way more often ....

agreed, Thats exactly what the peptides did when they played them, and he hardly had any influence, we just have to make sure though that we win the disputed balls in the middle, no squibbing, because if the ball comes out and over we are f^%&d.

My view of St Kilda is a little different.

The way I've read it, they've been trying hard but have lost class over the last few years as their good players have aged (Dal Santo, Riewoldt, Koschitzke, Milne, Montagna, Hayes) or left (Goddard). I don't think they're terrible.

This has been apparent this year. It's apparent they are trying but they don't have the football class they used to have in 2003-2004 and even 2009-2010. They need to start rebuilding at the end of this year or they will be in a position where Carlton was in 2001 with its stars all ageing and about to retire.

If we cannot beat this St Kilda side now, we don't deserve to be in the top 4.

It would certainly be deflating.

Couldn't disagree more.

There has been a massive improvement in our game style, attitude, team harmony, depth etc. Stoppages will improve. Not an issue.

People are too focused on margins etc. We are working at getting OUR game plan going and it gets better all the time. We are nowhere near as reactive as we were earlier in the year.

Our scores against are improving all the time.

Players are settling and getting more confident. There has been improvement in Walker, Garlett, Henderson, Yarran, Tuohy, White, Warnock, Armfield, Lucas etc and we have got valuable experience into Bootsma, Cachia, Davies, Rowe, Buckley.

We are SIX games into a new regime and IMO the signs are great. Into the current side we still have Waite, Gibbs, Graham, Menzel, Laidler, Watson, Casboult, Bell, McInnes to try and force their way back in. Not a bad problem to have.

I still believe 7-4 at halfway would be an awesome result and lots of improvement still to come. Come finals we should be playing our best footy and could really cause some havoc.

I agree with everything you've said except your reference to Davies, I don't think he's up to it, experience or no experience.

Attitude and mindset are the key - all through the Ratten years we were mentally "flaky" and always in danger of dropping games against mid ranked and bottom teams, those teams knew it and we knew it.

It's time for our boys to put the foot on the throat of these teams to let them all know that it's not worth "setting themselves" for games against Carlton, they need to know that there is lower hanging fruit from the tree that they can pick off.

Definitely improving, though defensively we couldn't be any worse than the first 3 rounds.....if we had of kept that up it would have been bottom 3.

Not there yet, but playing reasonably good footy.

Mentally for the rest of this season, we simply have to win this game...

There are question marks over a number of players. The positive is that they will be given an opportunity and MM and Co will be able to make a qualified call at the end of the year. You never know? I wrote McLean off midway through last year. I have question marks over Curnow but he has been very good. More than happy to be proven wrong. The more players we have pushing for spots the better we will be. If any of Davies, Collins, Hampson, McCarthy, Mitchell, OKeefe stand up and make it as senior players how much better will we be? I hope they all do. Great problem to have.

All in all we are in a much better spot than anytime over the past 5-10 years.

This is a great opportuity to make things 'click'... weve been doing ok without clicking.
I want to see things fall in to place this week as the instigator to the absolute pounding of StKilda. (A side without more than a couple of good players)Riewoldt should be run ragged this week with the Hendo /Jamo tag team...(Poor bloke)
The rest of them should be murdered!!!
Their best player outside of Riewoldt and maybe Montagna is Steven....and the odd cameo from Armitage in the best
Thats hardly a team that should worry us.

Their smalls should be starved pressured and they will go to pieces....

I hope other clubs rate Davies as highly as Psych and they start a bidding war for his services.

I'm not convinced on him but he hasn't had a good run at it.

At Under 18 he was a great runner and user of the ball off HB. Played above his height. Has a very good engine and puts his head over the ball. If he can show that at AFL level he's a chance but time is running out.

I had a dream last night so vivid that I almost had a tear in my eye when I woke up and realised I had been dreaming!

I dreamed we made it to the GF after finishing high up the ladder and then convincingly won flag number 17. Gibbs had MASSIVE game and floated forward to kick some amazing goals. I think we were playing Geelong... The fans and players lost their minds at finally winning another premiership and in the first year under MM. It was like a party with 50,000 people at the MCG afterwards.

Please come true! lol

No disrespect intended to Davies, given that even making onto an AFL list is in itself a meritorious achievement, one that only a select few of sufficient talent and dedication achieve, but I personally think he is in the bottom 2 players in the senior list, and in bottom 3 in O/A.
