I like the way we're shepherding off the ball more, something that has been severely lacking in the past and is only now visible 'cos we're doing it.

The other thing are the number of players that are having career best form; Hendo, Jamo, Garlett and Walker are the ones that come to mind.

Absolutely.

and Speed helps too, to create a lot of these defensive efforts. The 1 %ers.
We're doing it well.

I'm mindful that we could've been 6-0 or 5-1 and can be on top of the ladder at the half way mark.

We are doing a lot of things right now. I'm looking forward to the Essendon* and Hawthorn games.
We are a much better team than the one who ran out in round 1.

Ilike the way MM uses the tall forwards as decoys.

OK, its me again…my rant this week Is, again, about how far off the pack Carlton are. Watching the Hawks last night illustrated this. Last night’s display by hawthorn showed they are the best team in the comp. They are what I describe as the “big boys” Their application to the game is first class. No daydreaming moments, just foot on the throats of their oppnents every bloody second!
The hawks will win the flag this year, no question. They are a model of success, which has taken years to reach. Carlton is a long way off a flag. Judd will be gone, carrazzo will be gone, no Waite. Carltons lack of leadership, its absence of ruthlessness, perhaps laziness...hawthorn as a team show what HARD WORK looks like. For round 7 they also looked so polished. Their hunting of the footy, bullocking work. their endeavour was faultless. Half of our players just arnt up for 1st class, flag potential footy. I believe we have the right coach in place. Get Cameron Ling on board, he will be great. Geelong and Hawthorn are the real deal. At the moment some of carlton’s regulars are lucky to be getting games.
Don’t get me wrong, I want what is best for the club. I must see what others see also. i just hope that Carlton get's its arrogance sorted and confront its fears and get fair dinkum, cos they have a lot of work to do to reach hawthorn and get a flag.

I agree they are a cert for the flag...............but am I the only one a bit suss on how they fit all their players under the salary cap. They poach players every year and still have loads of stars from 2008 on their list that must be on big bucks.
They play great footy though. So efficient.

They've been certs for about the last three years
While its a more palatable idea than the Drugcheats winning it, I'll still hold out hope that someone else will do us a favour again and knock them off

Surely some heat has go towards Malthouse given the team selection and the inability to go forward without kicking it to Dempster, Fisher or McEvoy.

And here i was thinking we had made some inroads. I was never confident of the game tonight. seems we are the saints bitch. our attitude is crap, we have no hardness to our game and we have no swagger. we hired a coach 5 years ago that wanted to have 22 more mates. i dont know if mick will be able to change the team quick enough. cant see judd being there when and if we make top 4 in the next few years.

Same old, same old.

If we win, its because of Mick.
If we lose, its because of the players. (and Ratts)

Maybe expectations are too high. IMO, we're not playing great footy.

Once again we saw the value of clearances. Once we started to win the centre square, we got back in to the game.
To date they've not been good enough. Same goes for defending the kickouts. How often to St Kilda find a player 30m free on the kickouts last night. Not good enough.
If we can get our set plays right, what hope have we got with general play?

Mick will need to learn what the players are BV.
Im pretty sure the first half of the year its about going through the list.

This is RATTENS list after all... its what Ratten worked so hard to put together....

and yes MM needs a kick in the ass to have faith in 3 rucks at the same time...

Next week i would be going with just Warnock and Casboult ...and a faster more agile forward line

Yes at least we can all still blame Ratten when we lose and praise Malthouse when we win.
Ratten picked the side and coach his game plan on the night.
Ratten made the necessary match ups and motivated the side last night.
Ratten made the required adjustments.

Sack Ratten.

Maybe Mick needs ten years to learn the players ability individually and combined another ten.

Most other new and improved coaches usually don't take more than a pre season to get the playing group up and going.

Stilll we should judge Mick after exactly 5 more years less one game... after he picks up the best player in the comp along the way ....

Embracing mediocrity with different personnel is a personal choice.
