What I've noticed is that our best games are where we have identified the opposition rebounding defender and really taken them out of the game, such as Fletcher and Shaw. With the Saints, I'm not sure who this is, but Sam Fisher might be the one to apply the blowtorch to.

They're wearing our coach's name too
Quote:
Midfielder David Armitage, who modelled the jumper with teammate Sam Fisher, spotted the Carlton coach's name on one of the black stripes.

"I did notice that actually," Armitage laughed, "that was one of the names that I picked out.

"You could look at it as being a bit weird I suppose, but he did play for us and this is about honouring those former players and acknowledging our history. I think it's pretty cool that we're doing it."

This game for me is the Saints "showcase" game of the year, much like the Friday night Ethihad game we always get mid season against Norf.

Teams always get "up" for these games and being the Saints I expect a big circle jerk in their rooms pre-match to they're all up and going from the first bounce.

Danger game.

So the noble Navy Blue strip is saved the ignominy of appearing next to that abomination.

We should pull out the M&M strip. The carnival that is the AFL at present deserves nothing more.

Real test this game; under the previous regime when we went in as favorites and were the hunted - we would fail time and again. Last years saints game was the beginning of the end for me.

This group needs to prove it can cope with expectations.

My main concern, having seen the last few games, is that we are too predictable at times. Adelaide in particular got numbers to the contest and began to win possssion.

Whilst the saints players are in decline; watters has shown he is a shrewd coach and we will be in trouble if we kick under pressure to predictable spots.

Saints targetted gibbs last year to great effect. Interesting to see who they target this week.

Win this and i start to believe.

Their previous clash strip did the same thing, only just showing the names of their players who've played in a premiership

For those who didn't see it, in Malthouse's post-match press conference he was giving Hampson alot of praise...I doubt he'll be dropped.

Would love to see Casboult come in though, Cachia get a full game and Menzel to be the sub.

I don't think Menzel is ready and especially for a must-win game against the Saints.

Would love Cachia to stay in (drop Ellard if Carrazzo is fit), and bring in Casboult for Waite.

Agree that Hammer wont be dropped.

In regards to Hampson, if Kreuzer comes back one of Hamspon or Warnock will be dropped. Who is it? You can't play them all even if we say "they can't be dropped". They certainly can be unfortunate as that may be. No ifs or buts there. 3 ruckmen is a proven recipe for disaster. None of them are key forwards bumholes. We've learnt that painfully. i have no wish "learn" it again.

Unfortunately Hammer just isn’t up to it as a key forward – I have tried to see it differently for a long time, but it is in front of our eyes. I wouldn’t put great credence on marks Hammer took on the wing when the game was over.
Unfortunately neither Kreuze nor Sir Bobbie cut it as key forwards either. All of us Carlton supporters long for it to be different in regards to Kreuz, often referencing a Port Adelaide game 3-4 years ago but I can’t see it.

If Waite wasn’t suspended then the Levi for Hammer decision would be no brainer.
Waite’s suspension may complicate things, as having both Levi and Hammer in the same team might render us slow.
Hopefully (and it seems to be another big ‘if’ based on reading of NB reports) Mitchell can come on and have run later this year at forming some sort of partnership with Levi up front.
