Walker looked short of a gallop to me.

Maybe he is, and thats why they played him in the backline.
I thought he ran out of defense well and linked and used his speed coming out.

I thought his kicking for goal let him down in the preseason.
If he kicked straight he'd be our best forward.

McInnes form last year has really stood out as a missing piece in our backline.

I hope the kid gets back to that form, with Laidler hopefully rediscovering his form soon also, our backline will be 2/3rds complete.

How are we going to look at the end of the season? Already lots of changes have been occurring.

It's amazing how our depth looks better and better because are given roles that suit and are playing as a team.

Best side by end of year could easily be:

B: Tuohy Jamison White
HB: Walker Henderson Gibbs

Foll: Warnock McLean Murphy
C: Yarran Carrazzo Scotland

HF:Garlett Casboult Judd
F: Betts Waite Kruezer

Int: Ellard Robinson Armfield Lucas

Probables: Bell Simpson Curnow Menzel Graham Watson Rowe Laidler McInnes Buckley Bootsma

Any of these can easily be in our best 22.

Bloody Hell! Looking pretty good. If Mitchell and/or McCarthy can stand up we are even better.

I think what we are going to see with Mick Malthouse is our "best 22" is in fact going to be our "best 28" or even our "best 30".

And finally an end of the "give it to the champ" mantra.

Our depth looks good for the fact that we have a system and most of the boys are falling neatly into it, already.
It's also clear that every player has a role that works along with abilities and most players at VFL level know what is expected of them.
For the first time in years, it's evident that there's a huge focus on development and that players are enjoying knowing that they're actually going somewhere.

It's really too early to make any call on what our team may look like come years end as anything is possible with the methods we have in place.

Don't forget Bell, as for the way he's going he may just be perfect for us at the right time of the year.

That is pretty much my best 22. Different positions though. Gibbs and Yaz swapped.
I wouldn't go with 3 talls in the forward line like suggested in post above. I have watched a lot of games lately and lots more goals are getting scored using slingshot footy than the old standard of kicking to tall forwards. Run is important and two tall forwards is enough.
I am also noticing more and more that the leagues best onballers of the last few years are having more impact on games in outside positions. Swan and Bartel spring to mind. Dangerfield is also doing more damage when moving forward or sitting behind the ball outside of the packs. Pendlebury seems to be struggling to find space and have an impact and seems to turn it over a lot. Last night they tried moving him away from the packs.
There is loads of congestion between the arcs. Rugby scrums all over the place teams want the ball in their best players hands once the congestion is broken and the slingshot is on .

Bell is safe because he is going onto the main list next year as part of his contract.

The CFC have the option on McLean next year and unless he does something terribly wrong, won't be part of our cuts.

Where do people get their information from to make such assessments? Seriously.

No, not you Psych.

Can't understand where the "delist him" comes into being when players have contracts.

As for McLean: No Carlton player (not one) has played the better last 20 games than him.
On the strength of that: Why would you want to quit your best player? Because he doesn't run like Yarran or can some see something invisible to others?

So who's saying delist him?

Oh, it's Psych. What were you thinking?????

Whichever way those contracted won't be delisted. Traded maybe but not delisted.
