I don't reckon its the elusive tall forward that Carlton is missing

Really like what MM is doing in this regard. Getting being given opportunities to show their worth and we will have a very clear picture of who is up to it and who isn't.

I believe we also have a fair bit of room in our Salary Cap. Hopefully that will be used to chase a gun new forward. Hopefully Casboult & Mitchell stand up as well.

Lynch may have been a short term option for this season, but we should be able to get something better this off-season.

Scoring isn't our problem at the moment. Our tall forwards aren't having a direct impact, but our smalls are going crazy. That's not going to be sustainable all season, but our talls don't need to taking a dozen marks and kicking 8 goals between them. You have to consider what Malthouse is looking for out of our talls. Hopefully can get the right mix soon.

^you won't win many games against good sides with your tall forwards taking 3 marks for no goals combined, no matter how good your smalls are. It's the marks more than the goals I think. It's when good teams turn the pressure up and have us under the pump across halfback and through the middle, you need targets that you can kick to and mark the ball. It releases the pressure and maintains possession.

The talk of out tall forwards just having to bring it to ground is crap. Teams get numbers back, and we get hurt on the rebound a lot.

I'm really excited to see not only how Waite goes, but how our other key forwards go with Waite in the team. He completely changes our structure and I think there will be a lot more opportunity for the likes of casboult.

Have any tall forwards had a great year so far. Most appear to be having 1 good game in 3.

Hopefully.

But all the big names have been up and down this year.

Buddy, Cloke, Roughhead, Vickery, Kennedy, Walker, Reiwolt, Hawkins, Pods, Reid, Brown etc have hardly put two quarters together let alone two games.

Another small box Mick ticked yesterday: Dragging Walker off the field immediately after giving away a silly downfield free in front of goal and giving him a spray over the headphones.

Sooooo many times during Ratten's tenure we would get sucked into giving away stupid frees and not once did Ratten ever drag them off for a good old fashioned spray.

Yet he didn't drag Waite for his brain explosion...

Probably missed it. So did the umpire.

Maybe not eight but five or six would be good on a very good day. The onus is not on what Malthouse is looking for as much as what proves to be successful. After all, would Malthouse blow a fuse if our tall forwards did more than he anticipated?

Why would the umpire care about one of Carlton's nominated team leaders lack of discipline?

As for MM, just because Waite's headbutt missed doesn't absolve him of responsibility

I'm sure most of us missed the headbutt in real time.

I like the way we're shepherding off the ball more, something that has been severely lacking in the past and is only now visible 'cos we're doing it.

The other thing are the number of players that are having career best form; Hendo, Jamo, Garlett and Walker are the ones that come to mind.

Our delivery to our forwards has a lot to do with it.

..plus new marking interpretations as well.. ..but also the usual big fwds havent been as accurate this year, they've been taking enough marks but havent converted.. .... ..the smalls of the comp have used speed to kick non-pressured goals, or kick them from point blank range..

..but good marking is important, and not just in the F50, but along the wings as well.. ..and smart running patterns, good leading and work ethic.. ..these things which aren't measured in stats but are there for us all to see.. ..it's why a rusty Waite still made such an obvious impact.. ..we're desperate for that kind of quality tall fwd.. ..it's like a smart creative playmaker HF, we get one in and its a huge difference to how we play.. ..instead we have no CHF and use speed to cover hf playmaking absence..

This week Mick has a great opportunity to equal Rattens record streak in 5 years and 6 games with the murder of the StKilda football club!!!....

The occasion should be marked with not just a clown like costume that shit club has to wear but the humiliation of knowing they are back in the hole they crawled out of a decade ago...
